According to my SA at the dealership I use to go to, I was diagnosed with a wearing out brake master cylinder. I asked him to check the brakes for me because they were mushy at times (pedal went to almost the floor) and sometimes they were real grabby. So he said when was the last time i flushed the brake fluid and i think it was a while, so he suggested that i do that and i did. It was better for about a week then the same thing happened again. Brought it back and said the BMC was starting to wear due to age and useage (this was summer '03)
So look for irregular braking patterns, like mushy one day and real sensitive the next, etc.
I was quoted $650 for the job (parts and labor).
Good luck!
I still have yet to fix mine because he said somtimes they can still go for a long time and it was starting to wear, so i'm due for an oil change in about a month...gonna have it checked again.

honestly, i have no idea. if that's the price for the part (i'm assuming around $200 from dealer) then it probably takes a few hours to take apart and put back in. I will post an update when I get mine checked out :)

You'd be surprised on how easy it is to rebuild a master cylinder. It takes about 30-60 min for a beginner. The key is to have the right rebuild kit. Also look up ALLDATA to disable your ABS before taking off the master cyl.
From then on, it's another 30-60min to bleed all 4 corners.
If you are interested in DIY stuffs, you should get HANES handbook. It's pretty helpful.

Could it be when you bled the system you introduced air into it causing your brake performance to fade?
Try to purge the air out by redoing it and see if that helps.
