Hey my check engine light has been on for about a year now and we always thought that it was the O2 sensor. Well, we had meineke check out catalytic converter and muffler and they said it was just fine. My problem with my car is that if i try to floor it or press very hard on the accelerator, the car starts to limp, and i can hear some sort of clunking underneath the car. Can my MAS be out or can something else be gone? i had a OBD2 checkup today and it said it was a P0505 error meaning the Idle Air Control had something wrong with it. PLEASE can someone help?

yep sounds like a mas air flow you should never drive that long with out correcting the problem you could have done some serious damage. see what some other members think but my car kinda did the same thing.

The only way to check if the air mass meter is damage is by replacing it with another one and testinf your car. I had the same problem and until my mechanic did the test mention above. They had to do the test manually , because the computer did not specify the problem in the car was the Air Mass.
I dont think you can disconect the air mass and use the car without some serious damage...
By the your description of your problem, it looks like you have to replace the air mass.. it showd be around $250 and you can replace it yourself in about 2 minutes..

Well, my cruise control doesnt work either so could it be my throttle acuator or something like that? my error code said my Idle air control was malfunctioning. What can possibly be the errors?

I had a C220. Everytime I did a full acceleration to 60 mph, my car would throw a major fault and go into "limp-home-mode". My car was StarMarked, and the dealer replaced everything (that you mentioned and then some), even had a MB Tech come in and supervise. Bottom line, they never solved the problem. I moved into a C-280 and have never had the same problem. Don't know what engine you have, or what to say.
Good Luck.
