cigarette lighter problem

i just bought a escort 8500 from J, and the only problem is that my cigarette lighter doesn't work. So how am i suppose to approach this? So what might be the problem? I looked in google and it is no help, so i need ur guys help if not then i gotta take it to the mechanics.

Check the fuse! More than likely, the fuse is blown. A simple check is: start your car or turn to position one or two. Open the glove compartment. Is the light on? I believe the fuse connected to the cig adapter is also connected to the glove box light...atleast in mine.

If not on, then look underneath the hood and change out the fuse.

got it fixed! the problem was the fuse

now i need a hanger to hang my detector..

my fuse for the lighter went out last year too
easy fix
hopefully it'll last awhile
i use my lighter constantly as only place to charge my cell phone lol i have no US AC adapter for the phone lol
