I have 19" rims on my car for summer, the tires are 225/35/19 Pirelli P-zero Giallo's, I'm gonna need new rear tires.. is it possible to keep my fronts 225/35/19 and maybe do 235/35/19 on the rear, worth it at all? My car is lowered with Eibachs and has #1 pads all around, and 15mm spacers on the back, each side. I'm sure I have enough room.. but will it casue any problems at all.. better off sticking with 225 all around??
thanks.

Yes you can. ;) You can go wider tire in rear like 255x30x19 if they got one. :D Then 225x35x19 in the front. ;)

What is Pirelli Giallo..? I don't think I've heard the name before, do you have any pic of the tread pattern..

Also what is the width of your wheels.?

If the wheel are all in 19x8.5 then I'd suggest you go with 235/35/19 front and if you want staggered you could go with 255/35/19 if the space permitted.

225/35/19 is way too thin in my opinion, once you hit a pot hole you can kiss good bye to those sidewalls if not your rim...:)

I would love to do a staggered set up.. but all my 19's are 8.5" wide. and I'm not gonna go out and buy wider rims for the back.. too expensive.
heres a pic of the tire.. not the best but maybe you can see the tread pattern.

the only reason I ask is cause my front tires are still ok and my rears are almost at the wear bars. so I dont want to be buying 4 new tires.. just 2! I've been running 225's all around for 2 years now.. and no damage from pot holes.. the roads are pretty bad over here in some spots.
I know a 235 tire would give me more sidewall but I'd most likely have to readjust my suspension setup again.. and change shim pads. I really dont want to have to do that.. I like how I'm set up now. should I just stick with the 225's all around or do 235 on the rear and then when the fronts need replacing do 235's up there too? I'm not worried about potholes as I've hit a few pretty hard and done no damage.

you tires is P-Zero Yellow..

check out this thread (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=548&highlight=p+zero+nero)

And I suspected your wheels are 8.5 width all around, tha't why I think your 225/35/19 is way too thin... it'll feel like running on rubber band... and provide no protection agains pothole..or bump on the road..against your wheels.

nope.. they arent the P-zero yellow.. they are the P-zero Giallo...
P-zero Giallo tire (http://www.tireworks.ca/tires/pirelli/pzerogiallo.html)

Yes they are 19x8.5's all around.. and I havent had any problems with potholes yet.. and I've been driving on them for 2 summers and have hit a lot of pot holes where I thought I did do some damage.. but nothing at all! I guess I'm lucky.
The Wheel shop that I bought my rims and tires from reccommended 225/35/19's and said that 235/35/19's were about 1/2" too tall overall.

dude I hate to argue with you all over the tire brand..
But I just want to get the fact straight to you so other won't be mis-informed about it as well..

Here is FYI

Giallo in Italy means yellow (I just checked)
I always trust pirelli.com for Tire naming...

Also for these tires , all size in 225 and below won't have yellow color P-Zero lettering on the sidewall (with the exception of N1, N2, N3 porsche standard sizing won't have the yellow lettering as well).

Also check out tirerack website, their information has been very accurate so far .. :)

this below:
The left one is P-Zero Yellow directionalle (for front application) and the one on the right is P-Zero Yellow regular (non-directional)
PS: the directional ones is the later one(It just come out to US about 7 years ago), as the non-directional ones has been around since 1987 ;)

And as far for the tires diameter.

Here is the spec

225/35/19
Tire diameter (inches) = 25.200

Tire section width (inches) = 8.858

Tire sidewall (inches) = 3.10

and
235/35/19
Tire diameter (inches) = 25.476

Tire section width (inches) = 9.2519

Tire sidewall (inches) = 3.2381

So the actually radius only increase a little bit and not even close to 1/2"

I dont mean to argue either.. well now the tire brand is sorted out!!
and as for the overall height of the tires from 225 to 235.. I'm going just by what the wheel shop said.. they reccommended 225 over 235 for my application. and I've seen a lot of people with 235 19's in here too.. but I wasnt as informed then as I am now!! so I blame it all on that! loll

so I can do 235's no problem ata ll then.. do u think I should put 235's on the rear to replace my worn rear 225's? and then when I need new front put 235's up there too?

I would do 235/35/19 all around....

and if you want to have staggered size on the rear , you could always do 255/35/19.
Once you do the 255/35/19 your wheel will have more aggresive stance, and you might or might not need to switch to 10mm spacer (depend on how much clearance you got on the back when you decide for 255/35/19) :)

cool.. I look into some 235's.. but i'm only getting 2.. I dont need to be dropping 2g's on 4 tires right now when I only need to replace my rears.
I can put a 255 tire on a 8.5" wide rim??
and wont that 255/35 be way too tall?? the main reason I chose to go with the same size all around is so I can rotate them around to even up wear a bit. I'd love to go staggered and do 265/30/19 in the rear!! but I dont wanna buy new rims.. dont need to buy another set of 19's, cost way too much $$$$!!

Here is the spec on 255/30/19

Tire diameter (inches) = 25.023

Tire section width (inches) = 10.039

Tire sidewall (inches) = 3.011

and here is the spec for 255/35/19

Tire diameter (inches) = 26.0275

Tire section width (inches) = 10.039

Tire sidewall (inches) = 3.513.

And 255 on 8.5 width rim should be okay..

Wider than that will looks funny on 8.5 rim :)
