It may work.. as long as the connectors are the same.. but I do think that the European radio stations are on a slighly different fequency than North american stations.. so tuning will be off a lil. like if the station u listen to is 104.3.. it may be 104.2 or something like that.

should work perfectly and tune all FM stations just fine.... european radios work fine in the US b/c they tune both odd and even frequencies.... however, AM reception will be a little problematic because of different channel spacing in the US compared to europe....

I might be installing a similar stock stereo in my car, but I have the bose system. Does anyone know if there's a difference in power output between the 97' stock head that came with the Bose System and say a 99' stock head unit that came without the bose system?

do you have a picture of the back side of the deck you want to install

It looks exactly like the pic above. I talked to MBZ today and they said it wouldn't work because the 99 heads are fiber optic. Oh well, oh and I sat in a stock C36 today and listened to the Bose system, it doesn't sound all that great... Now I'm thinkin...

that deck is not a fiber optic you must be installing a different one

I wasn't clear, the back of my stock head unit looks like the one pictured above, the unit I want to install is from a 99C230k and is fiber optic, so it won't work with my car because my car is a 97' without fiber optic wiring.

your dealer is wrong... then again most dealers are.

Please see CLUB202 COMAND install (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=180) The COMAND is for fiber optics yet the car in the write up had none. So you see it is very possible to install fiber optic decks in older 202s.

If this is the case then my dealer is not wrong. I called Mercedes Benz USA, so they were wrong. I just want a good sounding/looking stereo, it's looking like I'm going to go the Nakamichi route.
