Yes, it have been a long time since I posted anything here...

I haven't driven my C280 for a few months and it was just sitting
in my garage. Obviously the battery went dead... down to
5 volts... :(

As I didn't have a jumper cable available, I could not use my
Lexus to jump the Benz... so I called MB roadside assistance
and a tech came out to my house.

He replaced the dead battery with a new MB battery. The
car started up right away. Interestingly, the new MB battery
was made in Spain in January 2004. (part# 000 000 002 697)
Doesn't it cost a lot to ship those batteries to the US? :)

Anyway, here's my question: the tech forgot to plug the
battery vent tube to the new battery's vent hole, near the
positive terminal. I plugged it in myself, but noticed that there
was another vent hole, near the negative terminal.

Do the original MB batteries have two vent holes?

Thanks!

I had MB Roadside come out and it cost me $115 for the battery. If you tell them you know that you need a battery, you will pay for their milage to and from where your car is plus the battery. If you tell them it won't start, they will only charge for the battery.

MB roadside assistance didn't charge me for the new replacement
batteries this time, nor the last time on my other Benz. (both
were out of warranty)

however, I think that's just because the tech was a nice guy.
according to him, the dealership gets paid either way, and
the customer is always happier when MBUSA picks up the tab. :)
