Just wondering if anyone has painted their engine cover.
I think if done professionally it could be a cool mod. The
chrome lettering is peeling on mine and rather than buy
a new one for $106, I'm contimplating having it painted
white to match the car and the letters painted red or blue.
Does anyone make an aftermarket cover?
What are your thoughts.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was refering to the engine cover on a C43, it's a large plastic flip up cover over
the motor. It has the Mercedes star and "///AMG" on it in chrome.
What happens is the chrome flakes off and looks bad. If I buy
a new one for $106 just for the front half, it might do it again.
I think painting it would look pretty cool. If anyone has done this
let me know otherwise I'm gonna be the first with it. I'll
probably have to have them use heat resistant paint.

paint is probably the only thing you can do to the covers. I sent alot of my parts to get chromed and polished and one of the was the valve cover and the spark plug cover off the c230k motor but the guy said that it couldn't be chromed because the part was made out of magnesium Mg. So chrome wouldn 't stick. that really sucked . Also polishing it would burn off. the only thing he said was he can polish it then clear coat it .. he guranteed it for about 6 months but it would turn dull.... so I made up my mind to powdercoat it some color........
