I have used the search feature..but can't find this answer.

I have my smartkey for C280 Sport 1998.
The key doesn't work..
Red light doesn't shows when any key is pushed.
I have to open my car manually. :(

Is there a way to fix this? ( change a battery or need to buy a new one ? )

thanks in advance for the help

It is my understanding, if you press any button & the light on the key does'nt light, the battery needs replacing. ;)

Forget that its for the the older infred key not the new smart key

Flick the key open then carfully go to the back side of the key, and at the rear where the key would sit when its closed carfully lift up there, it should open easly and you can replace the two batteries

actually.. what u have described is for the older flip key.. his is a 98, with the new updated smart key.....sooooo...
slide oyur mechanical key out of the remote body,
holding the remote with the part where the mechanicla key came from toward you, look at the opening near the top.. you will see a grey plastic tab, push your mechanical key tip into that and with your other hand grasp and pull the top of the key off (portion of key that has the panic button and lock to remove mechanical key)
slide whole assembly out and replace the batteries.
