My stereo setup is pretty much complete now.

This alot of labor and designing to get it right, but I'm happy with it.

Let me know what you think. For the sake of people with dialup, I won't embed all of the pictures.. just one.

looks good! How much weight did you add? I know MDF boards
are pretty heavy.

Also, are you running 17's? Stock height?

thanks,

It sounds wonderful. These subwoofers sound fairly clean, and they can get decently loud as well. I have MB Quart components up front and MB Quart 5.25" in the rear doors. The rear deck speakers were removed to help port the bass into the car. I have no complaints about the sound.

I'd imagine around 100lbs were added total. The wheels are 18", and yes it is stock height. Just got the rims and I'm broke right now, so suspension is next.

by any chance did you run new wire for the rear doors or did you use the factory? and if you have the rear speakers amped? bose or non- bose? the reason for all the questions is because the cars without the bose sys. if you disconnect the rear deck speakers on the car , and the rear speakers are amped the way that mercedes wired up the car is that the resistance of the of the rear speakers of the door and the deck equal around 4 ohms by disconnecting the rear doors the amp sees a 2 ohm load and lets the speakers have it, then your out a pair of speakers .:( oh yeah looks nice.:)

good stuff.. in the process of a system myself... some question though... why the tantrum??? what series?? phoenix gold need a bit of electrical power to get them to their full potential... did you upgrade your alternator or are you running it stock?? possibly did you do the "BIG 3" to minimize dimmage??

My car had the Bose stereo. I used the factory wiring. I cut off the connector that went to the factory Bose amp and sorted out which wires went to each individual speaker. I bought a 12 pin Molex connector and soldered each of the wires to the pins in the connector. I did however have to isolate the factory tweeter wiring from the front speakers. I ran new wiring for the tweeters. I soldered the appropriate pins coming off of the amplifer to go to each indivdual speaker. I made sure that all of the wiring was isolated, which it was, and I was surprised to see that the factory wiring was quite thick.

I chose the Phoenix Gold Tantrum amplifiers simply because they were right up in my price range. They are known to make nice solid amps, and that is why I chose them. I have a T500.2 and a T600.4. My electrical system is stock. I wouldn't consider this stereo a "power monster" by any means, and I don't really plan to compete with it or anything, I just wanted something that sounded nice and clean and could get loud if I wanted it to.
