hey hope you guys can help me out. im trying to install an alpine deck. the problem right now is the deck won't power up. My amp and sub is already hooked up, when i turn the key i can hear the amp power up but the deck is not powered.
for the harness, i matched the wires with the right colors so it should power up right? theres an orange wire that is unlabeled i hooked it up to an orange with white strip wire because there were no other orange wires. i dont have an antenna hooked up to the deck. what problems do you guys see? thanks hopefully there will be a solution. thanks eevryone.

check the ignition wire connection (red) wire and check battery lead (yellow) most likely it is your battery lead connection which turns on your head unit. You may also want to turn it on by remote because i had a problem before where all i needed was was the remote to turn it on. I bought all new wiring but it still would not turn on and i had the remote in my hand and pressed power and it worked......try this and then let me know---Afrim Delisi

hey thanks ill try that.also i found this: Wiring Note

Wiring Note: While providing high power output, this unit can draw a substantial amount of current. Per Alpine, this receiver's constant power wire must be connected directly to the positive terminal of the battery in your vehicle, and 10 gauge wire must be used to make the connection. This requires a length of 10 gauge power cable, an in-line fuse holder with a 20 to 30-amp fuse and a ring terminal (the ring terminal is used to connect the cable to the battery clamp). Although all the pieces of a basic amplifier wiring kit will not be not needed, if you do not wish to assemble the required items separately, the power wire and in-line fuse holder from a basic 10 gauge kit can be used to connect the constant power wire to your vehicle's battery. For a secure, permanent connection, the 10 gauge cable must be soldered to this receiver's 16 gauge constant power wire.
gonna go to a shop and hope this is why its not turning on. anyone have an alpine cda-7894, 9811, 9813, or 9815? these all have that V drive 60X 4

i have the alpine 7894...i'm having trouble installing it on my jetta...i had an older alpine deck and wanted to upgrade to this 7894 deck....so i took off the older deck, disconnected the wires, then i installed the new deck, matched all the wires, same amount of wires that i took off were put back....in other words, this was suppose to be an easy install.....

after everything was connected, i powered it up....the deck is fine, it has power, cd is playing...but no freakin' sound!...i tried connecting a speaker directly to the deck out put, and it works....so i'm thinking its the wire between the deck and the speaker...but how can that get messed up? i didnt yank or pull on the wiring?..it was working fine before i took off my older alpine deck...i'm stressed!

what do you guys think is wrong? i should've just kept the older model alpine....

If you lived closer i would be able to do it right away but i live in chicago. Let me know what happens when you get it installed another thing you might want to do is recheck that you connected the wiring right for example, ignition from car to ignition red wire of deck, battery lead from car to yellow wire of deck ground to black wire, remote wire to blue wire and then connect the antenna if you want the only hard part is identifying the wires on the car because the deck wires are labeled already.if yu ahve a tester you can determine which is which and connect accordingly you would be able to use a multimeter--Delisi

I talked to recaro to figure out the problem. Apparently the remote turn on amp was not wired properly. If you think you have the same problem, check the remote turn on wire.

mine works too now but i have no clue what was wrong, took it to a shop and they did some testing to the RCA's on the deck and amp and then...it just works now.
