Hey guys, i have a 99 c230 kom. (i know its slow -_-) ...but i was wondering what i can do to make it faster. I heard getting a new performance chip will make this happen but i have no idea of what company i should use. ALso, what other ideas do you guys have to make it faster other than adding turbo? Give me some ideas ....

pulley's are about 1700$.
a Performance chip is only 400-500$ max.
I guess if you have lots to spend, get the pulley first and then get a chip programmed to make use of the pulley. or you can try www.dynospotracing.com where they install chip and pulley for you for abour 1800-2000$. The both of those make the 230k engine perform as well as and even better then the 320 series engine.
From experience, I have a Upsolute chip and it was well worth the money especially for forced induction engines like the 230Kompressor. If you don't care for gaining insane amounts of speed, a chip is good enough. My car with the chip now has a lot more torque on the end (at least, that's what I feel) when I'm passing people on local streets and stuff. Response is better and acceleration is better because the chip causes the tranny to hold each gear longer. So overall, the car is a little faster now.

have you gone up with a 230k sport with your new chip? how much did that chip cost you?

Hmm, that seems like a more glowing review than I remember you giving on your first impressions.
Kswiss,
My best advice to you is find a way to prove that you're going to get what you expect. There have been a number of threads on the subject of performance chipping, and it would be a good idea to seek them out.
As I've said often, the first question to ask is what purpose will this mod serve? And what is important to you. Performance issues can be addressed in a number of ways, and chiping is only one response. Learn to separate hype from reality and you'll have a smaller chance of being disappointed.

I would say for the C43 no. I read a lot about them on the C43 and there doesn't seem to be consistant results. Going through various forums I just saw more people saying it didn't do anything or it damaged their car. From what I have seen it seems they are best with Turbos, Superchargers and Diesels.
Just my $.01

Upsolute, cuz there's only one dealer in the whole socal area and that's in Chino Hills.
I know there are some other brands as well, I think Evosport has one and what not.

Duncan I kinda figured that. The amazing thing to me is that these chips seem to wrk wonders in the BMW M3's.
But hey I love the idea of using an HPS supercharger where the results are smacking you in the chops.Plus I think a computer comes with the HPS kit. I wonder if it can kill the ASR? That would be nice. Maybe I'll post it as a question.

I will leave the chip idea alone though. But they seem to wrk well in the Bimmers. I know I'm comparing apples and oranges though.

I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor, with a Kleemann pulley kit.. and let me tell you, it adds lots of frigin power!! so happy I spent the money on it, wasnt cheap.. almost $1500 u.s. for it (it was the high end kit) and the bad news is Kleemann doesnt make the kit any more for the W202's from what I've heard.. and they are hard to find any kits left.. I was lucky.
The next mod will be an Upsolute chip for sure.. as well as a custom intake that I will be making myself (not sure if the intake will do anything, probably not, really just want it for the sound!!) I have a custom exhaust already.. not that it really does too much but sound really nice!!
for the best bang for the buck.. pulley kit of some sort for the supercharger.. more boost = more power!!
