I bought my car about 2 months ago, it was swirled like crazy, the lady having it before me probably washed it with a sandpaper or I donT' know...

Anyways, saturday I got pissed and decided to get rid of them.

1- Normal Wash
2- Meguiars Clay Bar applied over Meguiars Quick Detailer
3- Meguiars Polish
4- Meguiars Wax

Well i have some wax where it shouldn't go. Altough it's way easier to remove when it's not 2 days old like right now. You can see some wax on the third picture under the moulding that i did not see when waxing it.

Next time I wash the car I'll remove evey wax that is on the trims

and it was all done by hand, we were two, one applying, one wiping off with a microfiber cloth.

Good Work, there is a big difference.
Do not forget to wash athe car with a car shampoo to avoid remove the wax like meguiar's deep crystal car wash or meguiar's soft wash gel.
also use meguiar's quick detailer it fills up the missing link between washing and waxing.
or meguiar's quick wax its also a great product. ( a spray that puts on a high gloss wax) very easy to apply.

Thanks again.

Wow! What excellent results! I would never have guessed the before picture could be brough back to a showroom shine. Great work!

How long did it take you to complete the car? btw- sweet car, it sure didn't take you long to mod it :)

My car was exactly like that when I got it. The next morning I waxed mine up. I've been a wax fiend lately though. I think I've done it 6 times in the last 2 months. It sure is shiny though!

At the beginning, my friend and I were sure it wouldn't get that good... we were sure it would need a professional polish ($$$) and some other work to get the scratches out.

It took us around 3 hours and we were two... And it was done pretty fast. Doing a very very good job is longer but our girlfriends were right beside waiting for us to finish... The result was great!

Oh and Ahmad: I used the quick detailer along with the clay bar right after the wash, before the polish and wax...

you probably mean zymol

the real zymol are professional grade products but they costs crazy $$$

the vintage bottle of wax is 1400$US

I just ordered the Zaino products. I read a lot about detailing and stuff and I was most interested in getting my swirl marks out. I have a black car so you can see the marks a mile away. After reading for about 2 hours....i have come to the conclusion that Zaino isn't that good for removing swirls, but is good for having that "carshow" shine. Does anybody here recommend any products for swirl remover? These are the products that were supposedly "the best" for removing swirls..

-3M swirl remover (supposed to be the best)
-Meguirs (alot of bad reports)
-Zaino

just use a soft toothbrush to remove the excess wax...use it lightly though...

nice work, btw...really difficult to keep a black car clean..when i detail my car, i go thru the same steps....wash/dry, clay, polish and wax...then do the toothbrush thing to take off excess wax on hard to reach areas (mercedes star, mouldings...)..all by hand and it takes me about 5-6 hours to do inside/outside detail..

I got a super soft tooth brush it scratches the paint even when its wet then i have to go an rewax to get rid of the scratchs, is the any kind of liquid, hot water ???

Ahmad

try to use damped cotton buds, tooth brush will scratch the paint, use it only to clean up hard to reach areas on the rims.
to avoid this problem you can cover the areas that you don't want the wax to reach with some papers or so before starting the tiring painful job. :bunny:

toothbrush works for me! besides, you dont rub the whole brush on the body, just use the end of the bristles to take off the wax....i guess you just have to do it right...

i detail cars on the side, and had never had problems using a toothbrush...

anyway, i guess use whatever works for you...

Did your friend have major swirl marks b4 he put the zaino on? Did the zaino remove the swirl marks?

Kswiss, it's not all about the wax.

Start by doing a wash, cclay bar, polish and wax.. then see if there are marks left, if yes, then you can start thinking about crazy expensive products.

It's not like you can't do it trial and error.

Check my car, meguiars from the normal store did a fine job and it was very badly swirled.

It looks like whoever owned it before me drove it through a mangrove or something, branch scratches going down the side like a mofo. I hit at it for a long ass time with meggie's swirl remover, but I think I might need to hit it with the heavier polish... 3 times with swirl remover 9 didnt do much... Is the clay bar a very important step in this, because I cant find one around...

aaaaah man, you should have waited for the next day to take the After shots, it would have been nice to see the after shots when the sun was directly over the car as in the before shots.

But I'm pretty sure it looks nice, now I wanna do mine :d

I'll try and take pictures under direct sunlight.

Now it's a the stealership so I can't (plus it's REALLy dirty)

Probably I'll have another application to do to remove all swirls, but most are gone.
