I have pad #1 in front and the tires tuck already. check if the spring pad is in right.

i doubt that spring pads could make a difference because the spring has so much force on that rubber that if it did not fit in right it will push it back into place

ok right now my rear is ALMOST tucking in, you can see the tread of the tire, so you think it would be ok to cut half coil in back, you dont think it will make the car sit lowr than the frontif i do that! im kinda confused at this point on how much to cut, knowing how the front turned out

You need to let the springs settle again if you just pulled them out and cut them. That happened on my previous car. It didn't look like it lowered it at all, but the next few days, it had dropped nearly another .5"

Benz,

I did not know that the springs need to resettle AGAIN after they settle from the first time of being put in. cause when i just put them in, the car bearly looked lowered, then after a weak they settled, but i dont think they will do that again...

i have hr cup kit springs and my ish is mad low for my taste....i had to use the 4 spring pad up front and i think i'm gonna double stack the rear pads cause it was tucking tire in the rear...not cool when you run 265's.....cause of rubbing, otherwise it looked sick....i had to take my rears out....so b4 you cut e-mail me...maybe we can swap rear springs...i took them out so they are just sitting.....let me know...

ok..i test drove the car, but now i hear some clinking noises from the back when going over the bumps, i dont know what it is, i only took two bolts off, the shock and the inner control arm..and they are back in place now..so something still feels loose to make those noises...the noise comes from back passanger side

wow lorinser kit *thumbs up*. Nice ride

I'm on eibach, which should lower LESS than H&R. on 18" wheels. I'm on pad #1 in front and the top of the tire is flush with the fender... don't know what in the back the pad number and it's is a little higher than yours but i did not change pads yet.. planning to do so.

Qestion? I figured that the noises over the bumps came from a loose shock..apparetnly when i was puting the screws back i stripped it, as it was some what forced in..and now the screw does not want to tighten, nor come out...how do i get it out????

Without being there it is hard to say what is going on, but it sounds like the car may be held up by the shock rubber bumpers.

If you remove the rear shocks and the car drops more then you could be having that problem.

Also you need to drive your car around the block after you put it back together so the suspension has a chance to adjust. If you look at the drop right after the car comes of the jack it will not be any lower yet, due the the suspension being sort of bound up.

My brain isn't working - so you're saying H&R springs give you more drop? That's what I've gathered too - I just want to make sure 'cuz I'm about to get springs and I'm trying to decide which ones to get.

Anybody have Brabus springs? How much drop do they give you?

C280, You could get a bolt from most hardware stores

C280 JR

is that a good idea...would it be the same quality compared to the OEM mercedes one...

Just get a grade 8 or better bolt and you will be in good shape.

i got one from a local stealership for free..boy was the one that was in stripped..it took an hour to get it out...bot the lug and the screw were stripped totally......small question...this may be a bit stupid question, but is the car supose to feel stiffer after having half coil cut off, cause it sure does feel like that....

I agree with Jeff said.

It might be the car is held by the bump stop.

When you lowered your car with shorter spring you will need to cut the bump-stop.

Otherwise it will feel stiff since the shock doesn't get a chance to absorb the vibration on the road...because when the spring get compressed it is blocked by the bump-stop.

Here is some picture of bump-stop
It's the orange poly-rubber thingy.. ;)

http://www.tirerack.com/images/suspension/search_susp/medium/eibach_pro_damper_kit_md.jpg

The original bump stop obviously would be longer/thicker and since you lowered the car with shorter spring you need to shorten this bump stop accordingly..

I tried to find better site which has better explanation of this, and I think Tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/tech/terminology.html) has a good and simple explanation of it.

Hope this helps.

Elvir,
seems like you might have to check whether you have the stock "bump-stock" cut or not.

below is my car with 1/2 coil cut and pad #3 (w210 pad) with Koni yellow and 225/40/18 tire.

Yes,

I cut the bump-stop as soon as I put the "shorter" lowering spring. (shorter than stock/oem spring ;) )

Other wise the won't be any room for the shock to get compressed since the bump-stop will be in the way. That's probably why the ride would be harsh as well.

so how does it effect the shock when you cut it, will it wear it any faster...also where do you cut it, and using what, and still im not sure where its even located....but i know i want to do this to make it even lower....also is it located just on the frotn or the rear too...thanks.....i know im a pain in the ass, but at least im learing to do things on my own:p

it was rubbing before, between the tires and the inner edge of the bumper.

I posted the pic at www.benzsport.com (yeah no spelling we used to have "benzspor" with "e" a while ago).

I'll have to find those pictures.

Basically these edges is too bulky so I just shave it a little bit to follow the countour of the rest of the fender line. :)

Also if you shave the right sport, it shouldn't be too much

Regardz, Nice profile on mono's but that low a profile on mine and these mean NYC streets will have my tires and rims for dinner. I think I'll be safe with 235's and a nice drop like all these above.

J Irwan

With the offset of 31mm and 18x8 for the original Monoblok...

goodluck fitting in 235 up front..

It might rub badly and it might rub a little , all of these depend on how low the suspension setting (how much drop)..

even with #4 pads on?
