View Full Version : Front Roll Bar - Delrin Bushings

Tonight I machined a set of Delrin bushings for the outer front roll bar bushings.

Delrin is a very hard, self lubricating material, sort of like nylon. There is no deflection with this material, unlike the rubber stock bushing.

With the new Delrin bushings in-place it really made that front roll bar work. The car now reacts much quicker and is flatter through fast corners.

It gives you more confidence to push the car through a corner harder due to the better feedback through the chassis.

Much cheaper than buying a new front roll bar.

Jeff

Are you talking about the front sway bar bushing..??

Is this delrin material harder/stiffer than poly-urethane..

sounds like a good mod, I am all ear..

Off course I'll be happy to do a review on it (that if you would make me a set for front and rear :p)

"OK" so I have 2 sets of front Delrin bushings that I would like to give out minus a $10 donation to cover shipping and material costs.

They will fit on W202 cars that use the "sport" sized front roll bar which includes C230's, C280's, C43's and maybe others.

The I.D. is 0.705".

J. Irwan if your C36 has this size front bar, I will send you one of the sets.

And yes Delrin is very hard, sort of like Aluminum hard, but it is a plastic like material. Maybe more like a Bowling Ball type hardness.

If you will, I will install a set on my 280 sport.

Great, I will send out the Bushings on Monday.

I leave the outside diameter a little larger than the stock bushings so that they are clamped to the mounts very secure.

So when you put them on you will have to turn the nuts a little harder than usual but it will be just fine.

You will also need just a little grease to put on the inside of the bushing. This is needed so that the roll bar end can move smoothly through the bushing as the suspension moves up and down.

Looks like I'm late on this one. :( If you happen to make more or plan on making some for the masses, I'd be in for a set.

Yes, I will make more sets after I get the feedback from Nokia and J Irwan.

I don't want to produce a bunch of parts unless others also think there is improvement in their cars handling.

So hopefully the feedback is good and then I will make several sets in the next few weeks.

What is letter C called? Will it make it easier for me to remove my shock if C is unbolted?

Thanks!

C == Steering knuckle.

For changing the shock you don't need to undo this..

But for changing the spring one of the methods will required disconnection of this steering knuckle..

Im interested in a set of these outer bushing Jeff... I have the Eibach front and rear sway bar kit for my W202, but they only give you poly inner bushings, what about the outers??!!!
have you thought about making a set of inners in this Delrin material also?
Id be interested in a set of front outers if they fit on my Eibach bars?
