....one of my trunklid springs broke. The loop snapped so the trunk is hella heavy to lift. I suppose it's no big deal to uncoil another loop but still....geeez! I never even heard of this problem before :p

your spring actually broke??.. Ive never heard of that.. I have seen the actual mount on the trunk lid hinge break.. but not a spring.

On my 190E there were two holes for the springs on each side so that when the springs got weak after a long time you could expand the spring to fit the other optional holes so that it was easy to lift again. I know this is not your problem, but does the 202's have these extra holes?

Chris....Manong(Tony) also has the same problem.....broke the metal piece where the spring hooks to.....it sucks....

This problem is so retarded I can't help but laugh. But yeah, the 202 also has the extra screw holes. I will bend another loop and attach it to whatever I have the strength to get it connected to :p

Ricky, did he do the same thing?

All I can say is thank heavens for the springs because the trunklid is pretty darn heavy without them!

the mount for one of my trunk springs broke off today.

I usually just press the remote button and let trunk spring open without ever touching anything.

thought I would recommend that people catch the trunk as it springs open and guide it gently to the full open position to take the strain off the hardware when just letting it spring open by itself

you can buy a repair kit from MB, the repair kit consists of 2 brackets and some bolts and nuts.. this is instead of buying new trunk hinges.
the kit is very easy to install, and will return your trunk to normal operating.
If you want a part number for the repair kit let me know.. I will post it up. the repair kit is at the most $30.

Yep the kit is for the hinge where the spring mounts to it (near the hat shelf)
I will look it up tomorrow and post up.

ha, thats gota piss u off.
even simple moving parts such as springs can break it sux :-(
had similar things happen on springs off other things, normally happen just were it bends from the spring coil to the hook.
yea just bend another coil up and hook it on with a pair of pliers or something, itl fly open with the new shorter spring :-)
but be careful were it is broken it can be very sharp
