94 headlight for 99

Would I have to do any modifications to fit a 94 c280 housing into my 99 c230?

why do you want to put the 94 headlight on your 99...


Here are some fact about 94-96 vs 97-99 headlight..

1. The location of the fog-light and the high beam are different.. (there are 3 bulb altogether perside (1 low-beam, 1 high-beam, and 1 fog-light)

2. The later model (97-99) has more superior reflector and has much better cut-out for the light output.

3. the 97-99 utilize H7 bulbs I am not too sure about the 94-96 model.

4. The looks from the outside the 97-99 is shinier and cleaner, make the car looks updated.


I could understand someone trying to put 99 headlight on their 94 W202, but not the otherway around..


2 thing you need to considered if swapping between these pre-update and updated model.:
a. the plastic piece below the headlight is different.
b. the connector for the headlight to the electrical wiring harness is different. (to my knowledge if you want to put newer headlight to the older car, you need to buy a small plastic adapter (MB OEM part, in which I forgot the part number). But I am not sure if there is anything you could do to put the older headlight to the newer car. You might have to splice the electrical wiring..



I guess I just don't understand what are you trying to accomplished.

If I have to put Euro 94 headlight (with E-code lense) vs. 1999 US spec headlight...
I will choose the 99 headlight hands down.


Since apperance is also important to you, my advise just compare the headlight of 94-96 cars vs 97-99 cars... you'll see that the older model headlight look more dull and foggy.. ;)

Someone offered me euro headlights for xenon hid w/o the xenon kit. He had a 94 c280 so i'm assuming that they were for the 94 and not the 99. Hopefully they were for the 99 and he put them in his 94 . He also said it was a replica of the bekkers headlight.

From what I remember it was different from my 95 C36 and 99 C43. I dont remember too well but if it fits, post up.
