In 80-90 degree weather my temp gauge is reading between 90 and 100 degrees on my C43.That seems a lil high. the middle of the gauge is betwwen 80-85! In this type of climate temp while driving is the gauge supposed to read between 90 and 100degrees?Or is my car running a lil hot?

This may help (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1555&highlight=temperature)

This one too! (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2413&highlight=temperature)

On a side note, my car runs in the 80-90 range almost all the time. Temperature does not get too hot out here, but when I do run my car hard, temp can get close to 100C.

I've noticed that my 1995 C280 has been running hot at least for the past couple of years (I don't know that I paid any attention before that). Even with 40 degree outside temps it runs around 100. We've had some hot weather lately with temps in the mid '90s. I looked at the temperature gauge the other day and noted it was at 120C!!! I drove around a bit, noting slight fluctuations, about 116C on the freeway, 120C in city traffic, but never above 120C. I finally panicked and stopped by the dealer. I asked the service rep about the "problem", and he said without hesitation that the "guidance from MB is that anything below the red is normal."

Is there anything magical about 100C when it comes to car temps, or is this an artifact from the old days when cars had open cooling systems and antifreeze was just for winter driving? As long as the gauge doesn't move into the red, it would seem the cooling system is doing what it's supposed to, right? I've read in this forum about temps up to 110C, but have C280 owners experienced temps at 120C?

anyone ever hear 'gushing' sounds behind the center vents inside the car?
