Anyone know the cost and weight?

It would look great on a black car.

I think its about $650.. weight wise I dont know.
I've heard some bad things about the quality and fit and finish of VIS hoods on the W202.
I think what they mean by "off road use" is not to be driven on the track.

the fitment is not good. me and my friend try to fit the hood for 6 hours just a hood alone . need to do so many custom works. now we try to exhchange the hood to VIS due to the fitment is not good. hope they will let me exchange it.

***for off road use only***

= not street legal

any body or performance part that has that disclaimer is not made for public roads.

reasons: was not safety tested, does not pass emission testing or was not crash tested to meet government guidelines for public road use.

I can get VIS hood for about $600 and i was actully talking to them about setting up a group buy with my distributor today....and if i get enought people from the bayarea...I might just get the money from evryone and go down with a trailer and pick up 4-6 hoods at once, which will save evryone $100-$150 on shipping...so maybe like $500 for each person?

I donno if VIS has bad fitting for W202, becuz as far as i have seen on every car with VIS hood...they ahve teh best qulity and fitting for it...but just haven't see anyone has it on W202 yet....

I have one actually, the fitting is alright. There will have to be some mods as in drilling larger holes for the brackets on hte side in order to fit right and removing the shocks that lift ur hood do to the carbon fiber being somewhat lightand being its carbon fiber. But there are always the pros and cons of certain parts for cars. I currently have hood locks on the corners for just incase. But all in all the hood looks betch'n. Ill try to post up picz laterz

I spoke to "TEK" a while ago at VIS and he said he would cut the price down if there was a group buy that will be no problem. So it's up to u guys, and if u guys end up calling VIS just talk to "TEK" and he will give a little more details on the hood..

I hit 110 no prob..but like i said ealier i had installed flushed lock pins on the hood for just in case instances..I don't think there would be a problem w/o the pins due to the new carbon fiber wrap under technique they are using. But i'm too parinoid to try w/o pins

are you still using the stock hydraulics to hold up the hood? if so, do you notice any "bowing" of the hood due to the pressure of the hydraulics?

i would think even a crappy hood would hold at 110, I need one to hold at 140. :)

oic...at 140 i would suggest flushed hood locks, but as for the hydraulic ..i took those out due to the bowing..it's carbon fiber..u can't get away from it..u'll have to sacrifice to acheive ..unless you go with the overwrap on the stock hood...

hmm interesting
i'd want to save the weight i think it's worth the money on a hood, but i'd really wouldn't want it to fly off like Den we do drive around here when we drive ;)

heh heh. yes we do.

i am also really concerned about using a prop rod to hold up my hood. i dont think i could live with myself if i lost the stock hydraulics.

Fast......,

How much lighter is the CF hood? Can you measure difference using a bathroom scale. Also what do the stock hydraulics weigh?

im in the bay right now but wont take anything less than $500, i really did pay $680 for this and already modified the mounting holes for fitment, took me over 2 hours to put the hood on, now it should only take 15 minutes
