Hi,

I would like to repair the sunroof on my '94 C250D, cause it lays a bit strange, and some plastic part from the mechanism fell off.
The Hayes manual does not cover the sunroof repair, does anyone has experience taking it apart?

Thanks,
Attila Molnár

I just finished adjusting the sunroof panel on my 94 C280. The sunroof opened and closed as it should but when in the closed position it would be too low in the rear and a bit lopsided as well. Since the roof opened and closed smoothly and quickly, I ruled out a broken or out of sync cable. So first is to remove the sunroof liner. I opened the roof halfway and at the front lip of the sunroof you can look between the liner and the sunroof panel and see there are two white plastic clips. These hold the liner panel to the roof. Use a flat screwdriver to pry these loose. The easiest way to remove the liner from the car is to pull it forward past the sunroof panel and out the top of the sunroof opening, the sunroof is still halfway open right? Now you can see the mechanism that bolts to the roof panel. Since you might have some broken pieces you might have to do more work, such as drop the headliner, if you need to work on the track or cables. Good luck.

Thanx mbsickness,
I am on the way, I need to remove the roof panel to access the mechanism, since it has a distorsion on one side. I hope to be able to fix it.

I had the same damn problem, but I didn't know it was that easy to fix. I had my mechanic fix it and he charged me $125 for it. I wish I knew this before hand. Great work mbsickness:)

This is one of those times that you realize that you are beginning to know to much about a certain car. I changed the sunroof track out of three MK3 Jettas so I figured this would be similar in design/function....it was, so I lucked out this time around. It is so nice to see the sunroof panel sitting flush to the roof.

When I bought my car, the sunroof was not working, and I found that it was due to a part missing - it's a black plastic piece that is the width of the sunroof and has some broken pieces on one side (I found it in the trunk later). Mine is the solid (non-glass) roof panel.
Here's what I know:
The motor works, because you can press the button and hear it working
The panel is loose, ie: you can just push it up a bit with your hand from inside
The seal is ok, regardless. I never had a leak problem whether sitting or driving in rain, etc. I do notice significant drag from it, since it's not locked down, when driving at high speeds.

Does anyone know about this plastic piece, and or how to replace it? I assume dropping the headliner is in order...
I can post a pic later in the day if that helps better.
