I'm new to this forum, but already realize the great value in the collective experience here. What does the forum recommend are the 1st things I do to my stock 1995 C220 to gain horsepower?

Is it possible to gain 30-50 horsepower with any combination of "bolt-on" mods like:

1) performance chip
2) cold air intake
3) exhaust modification

Or if this type of horsepower gain is out of the question with these mods, I'd appreciate any other recommendations from the forum.

Thank you!!

I don' think you could gain 30-50hp on C220 with only doing common bolt on upgrade (i.e: intake, chip, exhaust).

30-50hp is a huge percentage gain over the original C220 147hp.. (that's almost 20-33%).

The way I measure performance gain normally not by how much hp is feasible , but as how much % improvement of the stock hp of given engine..

The only way you could get horsepower that drastic is with force induction (i.e: turbo),

A chip for a NA car won't do much

i dont think you will gain anything near that HP,NA power needs big displacement....otherwise you need boost.if you cant afford boost or displacement, strip your car for power to wieght.if that still doesnt work, you own a benz for the wrong reasons....hope this helps:) :) :)

That's what I needed to hear! I appreciate your honest opinions.

How much horsepower could I add with these type of modifications?

In addition, you should know that I love the car and have owned it for 7 years. I'm just looking to enhance it a little!

for the price of those mods, might as well get a turbo. someone was selling a used turbo set up for a c220 i think on here.

You bring up a very good point! What are the options for an aftermarket turbo for a C220? Costs? Any manufacturers I can research?

I also assume there are down sides too. Any thoughts?

Thanks again!
