I know you can drill small holes in your thermostat blocking plate, in order to activate it sooner, and keep the engine alilttle cooler. I've already done this to a nova and several corvettes and seen the difference. But what about in a C23k? has anyone done this and do yall think it might cause problems with the Coolant temp sensor or not allow the engine to get hot enough? I purchased the new thermostat and noticed that the entire thing includes the upper hose neck and what looks like two plates that i would have to drill through. Any ideas or past results are welcome... plus the original thermo. kicks on t 87'c has anyone seen a cooler running aftermarket/performance device, cause i sure can't.

It will probably be easier and more accurate to buy a thermostat which opens at a cooler temp. Some members have dropped in 82 degree thermostats to accomplish the same thing.
I keep hearing the engine is happiest between 87-95 degrees, but i dunno. I like seeing the temp needle smack dab in the middle 80! :p

I forgot the part#, but I was on this quest a while back and found a lot of threads about a cooler-opening thermostat on mercedesshop.com.
Also try a search here. I'm pretty sure we had a few lengthy discussions on the topic.
