So a buddy of mine and me started to install my aftermarket speakers, amps and subwoofer in my 1998 c230 nonbose. My friend has installed many stereos before but he is confused. There is 8 wires coming out of the wiring harness and their is 8 speakers. I already have a clarion deck. Doesnt each set of speakers need a positve and a negative. So wouldnt i need 16 wires then? Basically we are not sure what wire is which.

If you search, there is a thread on how to install stereo in W202

Your car might have internal amplifier to connect to all of the speakers. You do not have to care about this. You care about the connection between your head unit and your internal amplifier.

hey, as far as i know, the front speaker are already connected to the tweeters ( 2 sets (+,-) for left and right) and rear door speakers with rear deck speakers. same thing. i donno about the wannabe sub speakers in the middle of the deck.
but as far as teh 8 wires go (4 sets of +,-) they should work the 8 speakers. i think they are parallel so you should be good to go.

THanks for the help. Last nite...a buddy of mine and me installed everything(well not everything)...but in the front we modified the plastic basket to hold a 6.5 inch speaker...but our fosgate coaxial speakers have too much depth so I am gonna have to get a different pair. Is it possible to use the stock wiring and put a component in the front door and front dash without using the aftermarket crossover?

hey, i'm not sure, but you prolly will have to use the crossover and track down the tweeter wire. i think the tweeter is directly conected to the front door speakers but i'm not 100% positive. if you wanna test it, try connecting a regular speaker to the tweeter wires and see if there is actual bass on it or just treble. might wanna just turn up the bass only.

It's easier to just rewire it yourself.
If I remember correctly, you want to get a driver that is less than 3" thick to clear the windows(when rolled down).
