View Full Version : Going Old School

After getting dissed by a Kleemann employee on another forum saying that I drove a 90-hp Escort and that I don't know what I write about, I proceeded to take off the Kleemann side badge and drove over them. I don't have a problem personally with their product, but that comment that guy made to a customer was uncalled for.

So with the side being bare and not really wanting to put the stock "Sport" badges on, I decided to go old school, a la W124 style. :D

Excuse the dirt on the car - stupid tire gloss flinging off.

He was actually commenting on an article I wrote for BNZSport on my tour of HPS, and he commented that I was impressed with HPS in my article because I normally drive a "90-hp Escort."

Oh well - those flamers over at other boards.

Maybe you should email his boss about that. Could get him fired.

Oh, no worry - he's actually w/ Kleemann in Denmark, and the Kleemann reps here in the US even stuck up for him, and I'm not one to get all ass hurt over these things.

Homeboy dissed me, he with Kleemann, Kleemann badge on my car, me take badge off.

Simple as that. :D

It was on a thread over at MBWxxx.org between HPS and Kleemann - someone linked them to an article I had writte for BNZsport, and Lucas (Kleemann employee) proceeds to accuse the writer of that article (me, whom he doesn't know) of driving a 90-hp Escort explaining how I was so easily impressed with the HPS product. Guess he didn't know that I am a Kleemann customer with their product on my car.

Oh well - bygones be bygones - I like this badge much better. Now if only I can find a "sportline" shift knob insert that fits my 202 . . . :D

And no, Will - I will not condone your cigarette addiction by putting a W420 badge on my car. :D

I think I might like to add something if I could.... ;)

It's halfway down and posted by a member named "Lucas" -

"Adam, to me it sounds like you wrote it your self after sponsering
BNZsport.
If you take a guy for a drive in a 400 HP car and his daily set of wheels is a 90 HP Ford Escort, I hope you will agree that such a guy will be impressed. That " independant" article sounds like such a guy wrote it.
Get your car tested by Ian Qua from Mercedes-Benz enthusiast from UK, Momota from Japan or Car and Driver, here we are talking about real journalists which are unpayable, they will write
exactly what they feel like."

While I enjoy writing articles for fun, I do take it seriously when someone accuses me of being biased or "easily won over." I try to be as objective as possible from, but since I am human and I report from my own experiences, there's gotta be some subjectivity to it. Besides, I try to write from a more casual point-of-view - if you want a 3rd-person unemotional article, feel free to pick up a copy of Mercedes Enthusiast or Benzo. For articles with more "ghetto feel," read mine. :D

I remember reading that thread. After reading your story I was even inclined enough to start considering an HPS setup for my whip. Its such a joke watching HPS and Kleeman stick each other on all these forums. Its like two dogs fighting for scraps. There are only so many people that are willing to pay those ridiculous prices though. Me possibly one of them, possibly I say!!-MOE

Truth is... posted or not on the Internet, most "tuning companies" have some (okay, quite a bit of an) element of stuck-up-my-company-is-the-best-and-everyone-else-is-stupid vibe. I have yet to talk to a tuner who has resisted the opportunity to shit talk.

I just chalk it up to the whole car=dick thing...and don't really sweat it.

I'd drive a 90hp escort like your anyday.

i gotta say i get tired of watching those two go back and forth on the forum. i'm just glad i only work at bnzsport and visit here. keeping up with the other ones and the politics that goes one with the tuners would give me massive headaches.
