No gain on my Slk 230 and Clk 430. Sound are very disappointed. You can barely hear the sound.

I would reccomend REMUS great deep sound. AMG mufflers wont sound the same with Non AMG motors.

Muffler would gain you minimal. Try downpipe, cats, x pipe.. then you'll see double digit rwhp gain! :)

I found a website that sells a "complete remus catback system" ( up to the header I believe) for around $500. The site claims it will bolt on to my headers, so I'm assuming no welding is required. If I add this exhaust, then get a chip, what can I expect in hp gains? (the chip offers a 15-20 hp gain itself) I'm not looking for alot of speed here, just a little extra acceleration- you know, respectable. Thanks
-sholly

p.s.- those "future" tips are really nice

Lol.........15-20 hp gain from chip? You lucky to get about 5 hp with chip and exhaust combine !!

A cat-back system would not bolt right up to the headers, it will bolt up after your catalytic converter. That's why it is called "Cat-back."

LOL. Well, for $500 it's hard to believe the Remus system is truly a headers back system. Cats alone are pretty pricey.

Supersprint products are the way to go. They are well built! One of our guys here did backpressure and heat tests on a set of Supersprint headers. For a mass produced item, it's superbly designed!! ;)

Custom header will set you back around $1200-3000... depending on the application. Believe or not, a V10 Ferrari is much easier than V8 Benz (mid engine vs. rear engine). Lately, we have been refer clients to Supersprints, Tubi sets instead of building them in house.

And for $500, it's only the Muffler.

Yes, I meant to say from the first cat-back. But no, it's not just the muffler. It bolts onto the stock cat. (needs welding if you buy a universal high-flow) I'm thinking of buying some supersprint headers. If what you say is true about how nice they are, Cklasse, they're a steal at $600 on Evosport.com. -sholly

Hey Kenny !Its Carl.I went to Bos.Mass to drive my car over the Hol wknd.It stays up there as opposed to being in NY.There is still a whole lot of rattling from the cat! What should I do? Also is the stck AMG Muffler very restrictive? I may wanna put just that part on since I miss the looks of the dual tips.Let me know! thanx!

I must be the only person who likes the AMG exhaust note :(

I like it because it is not too loud, but it is there during WOT.

As for gains, does the AMG system technically offer HP gains over the OEM C280 exhaust? Or is it mainly cosmetics?

They sure are pricey

I likes it too! Then again, it may because it compliments the V8 well. :)

I dont think an AMG exhaust by itself will offer much improvement over a stock non-AMG system. Isnt the exhaust tubing a larger diameter on the AMG cars? I would think it would be the combination of a larger exhaust system and the mufflar that would have the gains.

Many times I say to myself "d'oh! I coulda used a V8"....

If only i could also afford a C43.....

Funny thing was I was originally looking for a 36. I went to a dealer and they had just sold it the day before, but had a 43 on the lot. I took it out for a spin, and....the rest is history.

Many times I have heard people say: "Your car sounds awesome....when you passed me."

so what about a brabus exhaust? would that be much better, and really what would be the best complete exhaust system you could make, I remember someone saying x pipe thing, so complete system what would be the best no matter price and where can this be done?

and not to jack the thread but what are the best springs seriously, some say brabus is better than AMG and some say volt springs are even better than those ideas

Hmmm...I have a AMG back box designed for a w208 CLK430 on my C230K and the noise is amazing! It might not be the noise of a V8, but this combination is louder than a C43.

The bore of the AMG pipe designed for the V8 makes for a very loud throaty sound. With my car being a manual, I often back off for some engine braking and it pops and crackles a little bit too if provoked!

The w208 pipe took some modifying of the hangers to fit, but the result is good.

They don't. A standard CLK430 comes with a regular oval CLK style pipe.

My backbox is an AMG part designed for a CLK430. I just found it at the right time at the right price.
