Hi,
I would like to ask for similar experiences than mine.
Manual transmission bearings had to be changed after 130.000Km (~80k miles). Gears and clutch are both OK.

Hi twice,
mine is running well but it has only 100000Km. Hoping the gearbow will last.
I'm not sactisfied with my manual, compared for instance with BMW, it's a bit slow for sport purpose, but it seems to be really solid.
I belive that You'll not find a lot of info here because a lot of Owner have auto-transmission.
How do you realized about the bearing: noise?

Sounds like the half shaft connecting the tranny to the engine. Its starting to pull it self out and making the noise louder. Not good, worst case senario.....new tranny.

Mine had strange noises like worn gears connecting, but it only could be heard in 1st and 2nd, between 1500-2000RPM. Three bearings had to be changed (driving shaft, front countershaft (it was the most worn), and the last bearing going put from the box). The gears were ok (130.000Km). The was ~300USD. :(
I think the oil was not changed by the previous owner, since MBenzNL has the similar car and he had to change only one bearing after 500.000Km(300k miles).
I just had bad luck selecting the car, but do not regret it, since I love my C250Diesel.
im alittle shocked about the problems with my 202,and after spending time in this forum, has really changed my opinion on
the reliability of this model merc, maybe I just got a lemon.
the mntc never ends... :( ahh but for some reason I still like MB.

90000 miles on the clock, manual transmission c220 diesel still flying no problems no noises, must be all the excellent maintainance and care.
but you know i agree so slow in shifting time between gears like driving the mercedes van same distances in gearrod from one gear to the other.
