For W202 owners, the european comes with a smaller door lock pins

Here is the part number
A 123 766 00 22

They are about $1-$2 each.

pic... Jun, can you take yours?

but I have 1 style picture to show why european door lock pins are better:

When locked, nothing is sticking out.

As found on your NA Spec w208 as well. So a trip to your local dealer is all that is needed for these.

Yup! that's the one I got. I've checked the PN and it matches with the W208 door lock knob. I'll take pic in a while. ;) :)

Here's some pic of what we talking about here...
I think it got some kind of adhessive to lock itself when you install this door knob. Plug in and twist it once. ;)

You have to twist to break a seal inside. So do the twist!

I twisted it but it won't go in. I even used pliers. Thinging about removing the door to put them on now :(

when its closed is it somewhat down? Or you mean when you lock the door its still sticking up and hasnt moved at all?

Rocky

it sticks up and doesn't move at all.

I think the hole is too small for this style of door pin to fit in.

When you screw it in can you pull it off? I have these on my car and they work normally. It goes up and goes down.

Did your locks function prior to this?

when I screw it in..no i can't pull it off but it won't go down either.

yes my door locks work.

i think the hole is too small for some reason to fit the euro style pins.

that's weird,

the euro style pin should be smaller (if not the same) in diameter that the your OEM one..

btw this so called euro door lock pin actually standard on the older mercedes
E class pre W124 ;)

I'm not saying the pin isn;t fitting.i'm sure it fits..it's just the hole on the door that's a bit to small I think.

You talking about the rubber around the hole that makes it look small?

Rocky,

make sure you screw it on correctly. means the pins held into the rod.....

Can any one please post the part number again for those "Euro" door pins? Thanks in advance.

Be aware that if you do this, your rear passengers will be trapped. The rear doors do not open when locked, even if you try the handle. Without the pin, they have no ablilty to escape in the event of an accident.

Just an FYI.

~dnm

PS - I have them anyways - no one is every in my backseat.

Thanks for the warning :)

But I think it should be ok - in the worst case, the rear seat passenger(s) can crawl to the front and exit via either front doors - just like as if you're sitting in the rear seat of a CLK, and both the driver and the person sitting in the front seat become unconsicous - you'll need to crawl to the front too :)

These door pins may be safer for kids actually - at least they won't be able to pull them up and open the rear doors accidentally. I don't remember MBs having child proof door locks for the rear doors?

Now, can anyone please post the part numbers for those door pins please? Thanks.

Thanks Nokia.

So it's "A 123 766 00 22"? I thought the number would start with 208, since this is a W208 part - I guess it's really a W123 part? Didn't know that the W123s used the same door pins. Interesting....

Thanks again.
