So my car made it by the teeth of its skin by being manufactured on 1/1997 so from what Ive been told by Steve as well as what I could source as far as information on the net regarding installing a W208 cluster in my car it will work.

I do realize I wont be able to access the functions of the instrument cluster without the multifunction wheel however hoping some members here having done this will have some tips for me regarding a few issuses I am having right now.

1) Its a full tank of gas why is it reading empty. I do remember when scorchie and i first pop'd in a W210/W208 cluster in his car it read empty as well but I dont know what was done to resolve this.

2) Engine Oil level low stop engine comes on a few seconds after powering up the car. There is ample oil so why is this showing.

3) Turning of the car leaves 1 malfunction when I press the R button it shows problem 2

Thoughts?

Yes, my euro cluster that reads to 260 is in the closet now :(

I was thinking about swaping the wires. Just wanted to make sure that was the actual fix for the problem.

I didnt want to do it and have something else break down. My wallet is already light because of my new mas.

1) variable setting in the cluster to be changed with stardiagnose...you are using a 210 cluster or a 208 cluster that is set to 210 readings...
2) a variable setting in the instrument cluster to be changed with stardiagnose
3) see 2)

...now what to do...come by in San Carlos as I will be there this week (don't know though wether you still want to come there though)...

greetingz,

crap. i was afraid it would require start diagonstics. im using a 208 cluster and per your post must have been set to read 210.

Steve, that would be a rather long 8hr drive for me seeing as i dont live in california any more. :p

I will see what happens at the local dealership this week if they will help me out.

btw, mike

mas=air mass sensor.

I guess after 100,000 miles on my car it had to give out sooner or later.

ok yah i did not read the posts. i thought you where installing it in a W210 or W208 chassis

i looked at the picture and thought your installing it in your car which is a W202 but i thought yours might be a 98 that is a different electrical system than my car.

so will it work on a w202 or what ? where can i get one how much do they cost ?

But if we can get the electronics off of a junked car anything is possible. I would need a parts list. Wonder if I buy a whole 1998+ dashboard...

I was going to the dealer but then decided to take the cluster out and put back my old one.

Im going to hold off till I update my 163 comand to a 208/210 and install a multifunction wheel.

Sorta excited cuz I thought it was pretty cool when I had the lights on and the dash displayed a light bulb with text of turn of your lights... Pretty coolness.

Car modification isnt a check off list. Its about finding your own style and going with it.

If you want to go catalog shopping, there's always brabus, kleemann, renntech, lorinser, Brembo, HRE etc.

If you want to mod, you're only limited by your imagination and your willingness to try things for yourself. (And yes, I intentionally left out "money", and perhaps more subtly "fit")

I'm not saying that using the above brands isn't modding...but really it's in a person's approach to modding that makes the difference. Okay, enough of the philosophical debate.

To best address your question, this entire foum is a gigantic list of what has already been done. Poke around, take what you like, leave what you don't...And if it's not already here, do it yourself and tell us all about it.

My sig would be able to tell you all you need, but just this once, I'll be super nice and put them here for you:

http://www.brabus.com

http://www.kleemannusa.com

http://www.lorinser.com

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/

http://www.brembo.com

http://www.hrewheels.com

and some bonus ones:

www.carlsson.de

www.tirerack.com

There are probably hundreds more companies out there with off-the-shelf products for your car, this is just a sample. There are even interesting places without websites. They can be fun too.

Make modding an adventure, and have fun seeking. Okay, this thread is definitely hijacked...perhaps an admin can split things up?

Sure you can, just ask speedybenz, pnsji, nokia or anyone else out there who's made a mod. Speedybenz's whole existence is to search for mods that don't currently exist.

look thru the gallery at some of the cars....

you can basically mod a w202 however you can modd another car...

engine mods
body kits
wheels
suspention
brakes
ICE
interior

Try this site http://mbenznl.com/products/

ALSO TRY A SEARCH!!! It really works well, so much info has been covered on this site soley about modding w202s.

Also try starting a diffrent thread about your topic, not hi jacking someone else thread.

This way when people use search, it is more organized and things dont get as confused ;) :)
