After owning and driving both cars with almost identical suspension setups I would have to say that the C280 sport is a little better handling car.

The main difference is the V8 engine the C43 which tends to add an extra 100-150 lbs right over the front axle or maybe even infront of the axle.

Both cars use the same roll bars and have very similar springs and shocks. Driving at 9/10ths speed the C280 is more communitive that it's at the edge while the C43 is more numb. The C280 is somewhat more flat through the corners and this helps to drive it harder, but still leave a cushion.

Hopefully in the next few months I can tune my C43 to be as good a handler as my C280 Sport was.

Now if Mercedes made the 1999-2000 C230K with an aluminum engine block. Watch out. Better Kompressor and about 220Hp to the wheels. Get out of my way!

What year was your C280? The M104 engines are actually heavier than the M113 V8 in the C43.

Jeff had the v6 design.

Funny thing was I was changing the air filter off my 104 at the parking lot of work when a co worker comes up and says. Wow never seen an electrical engine before.

Ok just had to share. :)

Jeff,

What about the sway bar?
I believe AMG uses different sway bar.

Maybe you could also put a different shocks?
That can hold C43 engine weight?
