Pre 97 and updated bumper

Are the pre 97 bumpers and the model updated bumpers the same size.. will the older style fit on the newer w202's? direct blot on? more importantly will individual bumper cover pieces fit from the pre to the updated with a direct fit?

While I dont know directly from trying one thing comes to mind is that the foam impact strips are different between the pre and post ones.

From what MbenzNL told me, that piece is for the preupdated bumpers only as they didn't make it for the updated bumper, and i don't think it will fit since the lower grills are different and the lines and curves are a bit off. the only way i think to do it is to swap the whole bumper and un update your bumper.

you have swap the whole bumper. that what my brother do to fit his brabus bodykits to his 99 c230 kompressor

Hey

slammed c i changed the bumpers to my car so ill tell u what i know and see whther it helps or not,

mine were the old bumpers of a 94 and iv changed them all to the new bumpers of a 99 front and back,

the front one i remember i unbolted the whole bumper off and replaced it with the facelift version bumper. this bumper requires two new plastic slides which you can get from dealers which are slightly different but screw in in the same place and the bumper will slide right on, mess about with it a little and bolt it on.
now i dont know about your bumper but mine was the one with the chrome strips on it let me tell u the chrome off the old bumper will not fit on the new one so i had to buy new chrome pieces, also on the old one it was proper metal on the new one its plastic coated with chrome so there u are ( i dont know maybe merc thought it might make their elegance models go quicker hahahah)

anyway as for that thats all i know, the bumper will come out from the sides a little so u might need to use a screw on each side to keep it in-line with the side wing, but thats upto u how perfect you want the finish.

anyway hope that helps as showing the bumper in two halves as you did im not sure what to do in that situation if your gona change it just change it all trust me much easier, less hassle but see if it helps

I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor.. and it has the model updated bumpers.. I had thought about getting an old style preupdated bumper with the Euro plate holder in it (cause I want the euro license holder in the bumper) .. but I then saw that impact strip on ebay and thought that would be better than replacing a whole bumper...
I just want to remove the impact strip off my updated bumper and install that Euro preupdated impact strip to my updated bumper. will that fit?? I dont mind modifying it to fit properly.. but I was wondering if it would be a close fit without modification?

I'd say try it, it might fit but you'll most likey need to modify it.
