I don't think he put it on the car---he wouldn't be able to get his hood open.

seen it a long time ago...like years. I bumped into a guy a few years back, like 3-4 years, and he had this. He got it from company in Taiwan. Looks ridiculous unless the car is black. Then your just a wannabe ricer/jag.

figure a way to get the hood release handle thru it, without ruining the looks. I did think about running a cable from the release handle to inside the car via the firewall on the drivers side under the dash and have some kind of handle and some kind of hook to hold it in place so I could open it. But I decided that is a feat of major engineering for me, a salesperson and college professor by trades.

Remove the whole mechanism and get yourself some hoodpins!:D

nevermind all the difficult ways to do your latch.. all you need to do is remove the tongue off the latch.. and get a piece of coat hanger and make a hook.. this way when u pop ur hood from inside all you have to do is get out and use the hook you made to grab onto the rest of the latch thats behind the grille.. pull it and open your hood.
it wouldnt look right if you cut a hole in the mesh for the tongue to stick through.

to a point when I could grab is with needle nose pliers and pull it the rest of the way out to unlatch the hood, it would pop back in and won't be visible then. What do you all think about this idea?

I was thinking of dremeling the pull down to a point when I could grab is with needle nose pliers and pull it the rest of the way out to unlatch the hood, it would pop back in and won't be visible then. What do you all think about this idea?
I dont know why you choose to still make things difficult for yourself..
the easiest thing to do and you will never see it.. is to remove the tongue or pull off the latch.. then install the grille.. next make some sort of hook to fit in through the mesh and when you pop your hood.. just get the hook and put it through the mesh to pull on the latch and to open the hood. then remove the hook and put it away till next time you need to open your hood.
I dont think you would fit a pair of needle nose pliers through the mesh.. so a hook would be more suitable.

An aftermarket grille will make any care look absolutely great in my opinion. Just curious, would you happen to know what material your grille is made out of?

it at http://www.autodirectsave.com/home.asp#StartOfPage, They sell custom grilles for turner cars, but they also sell sheets of this material for DIY in different sizes and different widths and sizes for the "grill holes" The sheet was $34.00 and I have enough left over to make the grilles for the brakes cooling openings on the bottom of the bumper and stil have material left over. You need a good pair of tin snips and I cut the material a little larger then the inside of the frame so when I fitted it it bowed a bit on the outside, I didn't want a flat grille. I also put some poly urethane glue in a couple of spots in back to hold it very securely, (clamped it until the glue dried). The suggest double back tape and glue, but the glue worked fine. Make sure you get a water resistent glue.
