The front end of my car has developed an annoying squeak
noise when the car is driven at low speed or starting off.

I finally isolated the noise to on of the rubber busings
for the front anti-sway bar. It is the one closer the the engine.
(as opposed to the smaller one near the front wheel)

I sprayed on some belt dressing and/or silicone lubricant
and the noise went away for a few days. It is back now... :(

The busing itself is in good condition. (only 18 months old)

Any suggestions?

You need to remove the bushing and apply a bushing grease to the inside of the bushing.
this will get rid of your noise.

thanks for your reply! :)

do auto parts stores have "bushing grease" or is it under
some other name? Last time I was there, I didn't find
anything specifically for busings...

I'm going to get 4 new rubber bushing from the dealer...
heck, they only cost a few bucks... as long as I got the
sway bar off, I might as well put on new busings, right? :)
(or is like what the parts guy said to me... that new bushings
may cause more noise than the ones already on the car?) :)

thanks again!

Mercedes has their own bushing grease.. you can buy it from them.. but its a big bucket and costs a small fortune!! maybe ask when you go and buy new bushings if they can give you a bit from the shops supply.. they may.. or may not.
I dont know if a bushing grease is available in a parts store or not.. I would have to think so though.
its grey in colour.. the mercedes bushing grease. its thick like a paste.. but smooth.

spraying lubricants worked for a little while....

I finally gave up and had the bushing replaced... now it's squeak-free...
