I believe the B service is in the range of $600 plus depending on what additional items need attention. A friend of mine just spent closer to $900 for the B service. I think the A service is more in the line of $300-$400.

Here's what I do:
I buy all of the items online for whatever the service schedule requires. I change what I can and I then show up at my Indy with the box of goods with the remaining items. He charges $50 per hour rather than the $100 or so at the stealership.

I am at 90K right now, so I've done the air and oil filter, the oil change, and the cabin filter. He will do the transmission fluid change, the brake fluid change, the fuel filter change, the new spark plugs, coolant, and then inspect the brakes and cables in general. Additionally, I have no idea about the timing belt or chain recommendations, so that is a separate item.

He will do all of this (minus the timing belt) in 2 hours of labor at most. Net cost to me will be about $125 in total parts purchased online, and $100 in labor. So, I am out the door at $225 instead of the $600 or so dollars.

If you can get good recommendations, I always find it beneficial to take the time to locate a good Indy that you can trust. They often do the same outstanding work for 1/2 the cost of labor.

Good luck. Sorry this was so wordy - I hope this helps.

Right on -- good advice. But be sure to find a good indy who knows MB's. Because of where I live my local indy charges the same hourly rate as the dealer but, he lets me bring him the parts I bought online. I save at least 50% over the stealership prices.

this is just recently like last week...i spent $310 and they checked everything to make sure everything is in still good condition. So than after that he told me what i needed etc and i did it...i got an oilchange, new timing belt, cam magnet, and a shifter bushing...cost was $310 for parts including labor and check-up...so yah i dunno if that was a steal or what
