having fitment/rubbing problems on the front inside tire on this setup with 235/35/19's: do i need to get 225/35/19's INSTEAD?

any other suggestions?

You might want to mention which 202 you are referring to. If I am not mistaken, the clearance is different on the AMG vs non-AMG models.

The offset of your wheels is too high You should try a 5mm spacer to get your wheel away from the inside fender. In addition to your offset, the wider tire of a 235 makes it rub even worse.

Try a 5mm spacer and if the tire is still rubbing hard, go with a 225.

Offset 40 for 19x8.5 is too high..

For the front :
you'd be very close (not safe) or hit the steering knuckle with those rim..

you should try to get a 5mm spacer to bring the offset to 35mm..

First I would check your offset...and definitely run smaller tires up front than the rear. I am running Brabus Monoblock IV's (8.5J x 18 H2) with an offset of 35. I can fit 225-40 series up front (with rolled fenders) and it only seldom rubs when I am on a severe tilt and the suspension dips. In the rear I run 255-35's with no problem.

As far 225's go, I have found that the Bridgestone Potenza SO3's have a narrower profile due to the reduced size of the bead protector (the thin portion of the tire that protrudes beyond your rim.) I rub a bit more now that I have changed to the Potenza RE750's up ront (because they have a larger bead protector.) Just beware that treadlife isn't that great on the SO3's, but they stick like no other!

Good luck!

as above: change to 35et - 5mm spacer.if you want 235 you will need gaurd rolling...if not go 225(wish I had 225):)

As mentioned before.. need to change the 40 offset to a 35 offset.. so 5mm spacers to correct that.. then longer bolts of course.
next with tires.. Im running 225/35/19's up front and 235/35/19's in the rear.. both Pirelli P-zero Rosso's (has a nice squarer sidewall)
when I do need to replace my front tires, I will switch them to a 235 like the rears. (thats if I dont buy another set of rims before then!)
when I bought my wheels they sold them to me with 225/35/19 Pirelli's saying this was the most correct overall tire diameter to factory, when I needed to get new rear tires I opted for the 235/35/19, the 235 tire fits the 8.5" rim better then the 225, the 225 is actually slightly too narrow and leaves a bit of the rim on either side revealed.
Id go with 235 all around.

Thats what I used to think until I felt some other non-AMG cars fenders in the parking lot. I just added et 35 18/8 on my car(C36 AMG) and my replacemet drivers side fender rubs. I dont think AMG cars are any different than the reg 202's. Ive walked up to other C220's & such and felt underneath & fenders are all the same. My replacement fender is probably cheapo aftermarket & thats why it isnt rolled as nice underneath. Majority of 202's have 15-16" wheels so aftermarket fender wouldnt rub under any normal circumstances. Im just assuming my fender is aftermarket due to non-rolled feel underneath. MB may just even skip the process on replacement fenders??? Who knows but.....

In light of any minor rubbing my suggestion may seem kinda ghetto but just pull real hard on the fender in the areas where your paint is starting to burn through. Its free and painless to the car lookswise. I did it to mine after I got my 18's from pnjsi last week and the rubbing is way better - almost non-existant. Im going to get my car rolled a little though to make sure it goes away totally.
