Courtesy Headlight Feature

...how do I disable it? I tried searching for this but came up empty handed. Is there a way to keep the headlights from turning on when I shut the last door when I get home? I know this is a feature that is somehow tied to whether I had the headlights on just before shutting off the car. I have HID's installed and from what I hear this will cut the life of the HID bulbs by turning them back on before they cool. Besides the lights act funny when they are switched back on right after the drive....they blink, flicker and sometimes only one side comes on....so this surely can't be a good thing.

2 options, unplug the lights:D . or take it to the stealership. they should do it for free.

lock the doors before the last door closes and it wont turn on

Is this feature available on my 95 C220? Sorry I don't have a manual.

Well I tried locking the doors before closing the last door and it did not work on my car. What I did find that worked was to turn off the car and the lights and turn the ignition back on with the lights off. You don't have to start the car, just get the ignition on to where the dash warning lights come on. Now when you exit the car the lights will not come on.

hey guys,

sorry to bring up an old post. I too have 96 C36. I want to disable this feature I think its stupid and also I want to run ltw battery so I don't want unecessary drain while car is off. Any way I can do it myself or is dealership the only way?
