Climate control swap

Okay, I did a search on this and got flooded with info but no simple answer (if there is one). I have a 1999 C230K with the manual dual-climate control setup (the one with knobs). I would like to know if that can be swapped with a digital control (similar to the c280 and amgs). And what parts i would need from the car that I obtain the control unit from such as wiring harness.

If i remember right, you can do it, but it's a waste of money and time and effort. Your better off sticking with your original climate controls. Only steve from europe has done this and recommended no one do it...

I meant no pun against anyone i was just letting others know that i did search because i also dislike it when the same question is asked over and over again.
