Am planning to moved up to 18 inch wheels from 17. With the 17's the ride is still wonderful as with accelaration. Feel no harsh effects whatsover on the 17 inch upgrade.

Question is how much of a difference would you guys/experts say would effect the ride on 18's? From a scale of 1 to 10 what would you rate it. With my current set up I would rate the ride quality at 8 to 8.5

I have used 18's on BMW's , both 3 and 5series with sport suspensions and quite frankly on the looks department it look GOOD, but ride quality did suffer. Is it safe to say I will be getting the same experienced on the 202 with the 18s?

I am currently on H&R springs and the OE shocks that come with the 99 c280 sport and 52k miles on the odometer

Any input would be appreciated, thanks

I cant really be of any help as Im running 19's.. but I can say yes there will be a ride quality loss from going from a 17" rim to 18" rim.. for sure.. you have 1" more rim and 1" less sidewall, stiffer sidewall calls for less flex and a "sportier feel" when driving. so your going to feel the road hella more, feel the bumps more, but cornering will be a bit smoother.
as for stock shocks.. you may be able to help the ride out with some different shocks.. maybe a shock with variable valving inside.
but definatly yes the ride quality will be poorer.

I got 18's on my c230 and i noticed a little diference in ryde quality... but not enough to not get them. You can still run a 40 series tire with them, and you can feel your car taking turns better. I had 18's on my integra and the ryde sucked, (215/35/18), but on the benzo its much better. I say you go for it, but thats just me.

well.. c280 sport not lowered (yet :D)

stock sport 16's

215/55/16 all around.. ride quality somewhat decent.. though i think my shock might be going out.. but fairly good..

18's

18x7.5 front 225/40/18
18x8.5 rear 245/40/18

much better handling.. looks and feels alot better...

all in all.. though i haven't have 17s.. i really like the 18s... you wont be disappointed.. but thats personal preferences..

maybe in a month or two i'll get 19s..

They are 17x 8-1/4 et34 MB Evolution II silver wheels. Found on the Bekkers website, with 225/45/17 Toyo proxes 4 used less than 3k miles. These wheels were specifically made for the limited production 190e 16valves
