Hey guys

Well i wanted somemore sound outta my 43 and i dident have that much cash because im in the process of getting my reiger spoiler installed and some tint put on, anyways so i got my resonator cut out and straight pipe welded in. It was only 65 bucks and it was worth it. Its not a spectacular sound increase but it is there, my freind said it sounds way better, more burly and i can feel some more low end power. Its a good cheap mod to do and i give it 2 thumbs up for v8 owners, perhaps v6 and i6 too. I only wish i would of done this in the c36.

Now i am looking for some High Flow cats, Cklasse how much?

ciao

try dynatech's powercat, you can get it from here:
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=192834&prmenbr=361

I have two of these on my C280, and it makes so much difference.

i have a question

on the C43 there is 4 cats 2 cats up front and 2 under the drivers seat area.

Does the c43 even need 4 cats? If i removed the 2 ones under the middle of the car would this be legal. Would it mess with the odb 2 system? I think the o2 sensors are at the first cats on the 2nd ones.

hey man, how loud is it? I remember when i first bought my car, i noticed it was super loud after two weeks. My buddy looked at the car and saw that my resonator was broken and hanging. It sounded awesome, but it was a little too loud. I'm really considering doing this now. A V8 should sound loud, but I don't want it to sound loud when i'm cruising the highway.

kenzbenz: its deep, it sounds good, do it to the c36 and report back !

jbizzyc43: I say do it, the reason your car was so loud is because if the resonator was disconnected and hanging then the exhaust would just be going straight out after the resonator the muffler would not be in use, that is y it was so loud

Well, I work in a service shop and have connections to some muffler shops. A buddy of mine down the street is cutting out my resonator for me right now as I'm typing this! I couldn't wait. I'm all exited and shit. I hope it sounds nice.....

Sounds like a good mod.

Maybe some wieght savings too? Did you happen to compare wieghts of the resonator and the replacement pipe before welding?

the muffler place just called me back and said it made no difference in sound! I'll listen for myself when I get it back.

I cant say because i only used the dynatech ones. However, the main concern to you should be the emissions, cuz if you live in cali, and dynatech will most likely not pass smog test. but, if i were you, i would research this little more.
check out www.jegs.com and see all the different cats they sell, also bassani(or basanni, not sure on spelling) has some, from what i hear, good cats.

if you dont have carb emissions testing in your state, if i were you, i would straight pipe the upper cats, and put high flow lower cats because they are bigger, which will allow more flow and be more useful for emissions reduction.

got it back. it's slightly deeper, but not really noticeable. I guess I shaved off some weight. I was hoping it would be louder.

are you kidding? In Boston I bet this simple job will cost me $100. The'll do a nice job with it, but it won't be cheap.

Try Metal Catz from Arvin. They are the only ones out there that is Emission legal in 48 States yet has NO BACKPRESSURE. I was really impressed by them. They are a bit pricey... but well worth it.
