Anyone have the part number for a transmission oil dipstick for a 1995/96 C36? My 1997 has the locking one.

here is the part # for your C36
140 589 15 21 00
this the universal dipstick used for all 722.6 transmissions.
the red locking clip breaks every time you open the cap, so here the part # for that
140 991 00 55

if your trans has a tamper-proof cap, it is secured with a red locking clip. once the clip is removed, it breaks and cant be reinstalled on to the cap, so you need a new one.

would the 3.6 inline have a different trans oil tube then the 2.8 inline

should be the same trans. even if different, they are all 722.6 series.
the dipstick I posted the # for is universal, its longer than any tube, so when measuring level, insert it until it stops.

do you have a 4 or 5 speed trans? if its 4speed, then you need the one that stays in the tube, if you have a 5speed, then you need the one I gave you the part # for. If all this is confusing for you, then call your dealership, give them your VIN and they'll tell you which dipstick you need to use.
