I have a '98 C43 dropped 1.4 w/ Vogtlands. If I were to install new wheels, 19x8.5 front 19x9.5 rear w/ 235/35/19 and 265/30/19, will it rub? Will I need special mods? The wheel is the Axis Finish wheel. The offset I think is 37-40. Anyone of you guys with the same setup or any of you wheel/tire pros please let me know what you think. Thanks.

you might need spacers

what size?

If your front rim is an ET 37mm you should have 2mm spacers to keep the tire and rim from rubbing on the suspension upright.

If the rear rim is ET 40mm then I suggest a 4-5mm spacer to get you to an ET 35-36mm. An ET 40mm will cause the rear tire to rub on the inner fender.

thanks for the help man. if you put spacers in the rear, won't it push the wheel out further into the fender?

don't go with the 19s, just sell your rims if they are new. 19s are too much of a headache to put on - requires work :D

aw c'mon man.. no time to give up now! We drive Mercedes dude, we don't settle! If it can be done, it will be done. I get them tomorrow from fedex. I'm going to give it shot. I'll make it work and I'll post some pics.

Id say the best way is to just slap them on and then figure it out. Heres what i have on my car right now and no rubbing except for one corner (only does it ocassionally).

The fronts: 235/35/19 with et 40
the rears: 245/35/19 with et 40 plus 20mm spacer so the et is now 25.

The only concern with your setup is the 265 s in the rears, they might rub. Otherwise the et40 doesnt sound like to much of a problem.

Make sure for the rears get the right bolts, or it will mess up the parking brakes. I know that some wheels require different bolt lenghts. All you need is 5-6 turns after the wheel, so put the bolt thru the hole and if you count 5 - 6 lines of thread then you're good.

Don't give up, hard work always pays off.!!!!!!!

okay, so the wheels arrived. the offset on the box states that it is 37+ or positive i guess, offset for both the front and the rear. Is this an okay offset?

So I got the wheels on. They look awesome. The fronts are not rubbing. (THANK GOD!) but the rears are. I'm going to go down a size and see it that will work.

rubbing on the inside or outside.

also please post what kind of tire are u using..

Bridgestone S03 and S02 are notorious to have big fat rim protection ring which will affect fender clearance.. .;)

J Irwan is right... that's why i've since changed from S-03's because I would rub occasionally.

Maybe you should try 255 rather than 265... I hear those can fit without so many rubbing issues.

It's rubbing on the inside of the fender only. I'm gonna see if I can get the fender rolled out a little more. its all i need. I have some cheap ventus k104 hankook tires on them. I go through tires like crazy and can't afford the really good shit. plus, i get these tires cheap cheap. has anyone rolled out their fenders slightly more on the c43? i know is pre-rolled from factory, but i need just a tad more.

what I meant is by rubbing on the inside or outside..

rubbing on the inside == the inner sidewall rub the inner wheel well.

rubbing on the outside == outer side wall (side where u see the lug bolts) rub on the fender (inside lip of the fender: if you want to get into technicallity).

I hope this clear the confussion..

Also any pic so we can see how low the drop is.

The pic I have with Brabus Monoblok IV 3 pc is Falken 265/35/18 on 18x9.5 ET35, lookie here (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5203&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)

Its not low at all. I still have a one finger gap. Its when i hit dips or turn hard on right turns. how do you post pics? not too sure how. Anyway, i know the fenders are pre-rolled, is there anyway to flare out the fender even more? Maybe a 1/4 inch?

you have to load it up on the net first then, get the link and put[-img]link [-/img], but remove the hyphens.

Anyways rolling a 1/4 is a lot of rolling, i am guess your rubbing is a probably from the bumper , so you might want to shave the bumper since the bumper isn't rolled at all. Look at it and you'll know what i mean.

thanks buddy! actually, i drove it yesterday, and the rubbing is now almost completely gone! i can't believe it! It only rubs ever so slightly now on major major dips. I think i have a good idea of what it might be though. I thinks its rubbing on the corner of the little door moulding strip at the end. I put the car on a steep hill sideways so that it would lean over a lot on one side until the tire was tucking. It totally cleared the fender+rear bumper and the only thing that was close to hitting the tire was the molding piece. I'm gonna try and shave it down a little on the inside to see if that won't stop the rubbing. But I have a good feeling about it.

yeah baby!!! NO MORE RUBBING!!!!!!!!! i even loaded my car with 3 people and drove around the block. NO RUBBING!!! To all those who said it would not work, you must now go out and buy some 19" wheels for your car!! hahaha! It is a huge difference 18" to 19" The car looks absolutely pimp. I still don't know how to post a fucking picture. I'm not too computer saavy.

first you need to find a hosting site for your picture. (there are a lot free site outthere).

Then get the url to that pic (i.e http://www.pichosting.com/jbizzyc43/12.jpg)

then when you post on this forum make sure you put & tag --- before and after the url respectively.

so the message you type for posting a pic will be as follow:
http://www.pichosting.com/jbizzyc43/12.jpg

Hopw this helps :)

Ok sorry to steal your thread but I just bought 19 inch rims for my c230. They are 19X8 all around, and 35 et. Will I have problems? And if anyone can suggest the tire sizes I am suppose to buy? 225/35/19? 235/35/19? Thanks.

I'm not really sure but I think 19's mean you will have problems without some kind of modifications. This whole wheel thing seems to be a grey area for me...

you can go either or

but 235/35 might be better. little wider
