Looking forward to upgrade my audio. Starting with a 5 channel amplifier.
Boiled down to jl audio 500/5 and soundstream van gogh. Anybody with experience with those product? any other recommendation.
Not going for seperate speakers/sub amp. saving for space.

go with the jl i personaly have installed several jl amps and other products. those amps have some of the best xovers on the market right now, plus not to mention that they sound great. the rated power is at least what you'll get from the amp. :D

ehh.. i heard a few bad thing about that 5 channel amp for JL.. but its user error... a few other you could be looking at.. maybe MTX, Kicker, or my favorite Memphis...

I would run 2 seperate amps, allows for easier upgradability later when you are seeking more. Also, that line of SoundStream subs in wonderful, but for of an spl sub than sq. If you are looking in that price range and want something that will be loud, but maintaing excellent sq, an idq v.3 will handle everything you put at it. As far as amps, if you can afford a JL, go for. What are you changing the speakers to?

well since he's trying to save space (single amp)

MTX 895 (good)

Kicker kx700.5 (good)

Soundstream Rubicon 805 (good)

Memphis Belle mc600 (good)

Phoenix Gold Octane 9:0:5 (have no experience with octane series)

I seem not to be able to find Soundstream Rubicon 805.. older version?
Anybody had any experience with or read anything about Soundstream VGA800.5 Van Gogh.

I haven't really made a list for specific speakers. Any recommendation? I listen to jazz, classical, pop, and a little dance/techno.

Any recommendation also for head unit that will blend nicely into the dash board?

My buddy runs a car audio shop and said the Sound Stream Van Gogh was a very nice amplifier. Prices are extremely low on them because they over estimated the market and supply is significantly higher than demand. Phoenix Gold is also great stuff, but the octane is their entry level line i believe, so you may want to step up from that.

Rubicon is an older model.. and personally i think it was their best..

seems like you'll like something smooth and laid back..

I hate this. The more things I see the more I find better stuffs and the more I am raising my fund. So I am going to set my limit to $1500... $2000 top!

Dropped the jl audio cause is not giving me any sound from the back.
Heard the phoenix gold adding it to my list.

Anybody heard memphis belle 16-MC1300D or 16-MC600D nobody is selling those here.

What speakers do you guys use for the rear door? component or coaxial?
How about the speakers on the headrest?
