Hey everyone, I have been driving my car the past few days in the rain. When I brake a orange light in the bottem left of the dash lights up, it looks like a circle and turns off when I release the brakes? Anyone know what this is? Thx

that is the brake lining light. it means the brake pads are worn out, or the sensors are grounded from the water and are sending the false signal that your pads are worn out.

it could also just mean his brake pads are low.

they vary by the model and year. check with your dealership or check www.thebenzbin.com or www.germanstar.net

I was told I need to change the entire brakes for around $350, rotors, pads, sensor, ect.

Is this true? Also, if I drive like this, without changing the pads, is that ok for awhile, will it damage anything. thx

if the rotors have ridges on them or deep lip on the outer end, then you need to replace them. if the brakes are worn out, you must replace them as soon as possible, including the sensors, or you are risking your safety.

ideally you would change the rotors as well when you change brake pads on our cars. Many european cars now use 'soft' rotors and are meant to be replaced each time new brake pads are put on. cars like honda and toyotas use a harder rotor that can be machined and reused.

i machined my rear rotors, they ended becoming too thin and the brake pads did not grip them...then the rotor rusted out.

Does the price of $350-400 sound right for new brakes? Also, how much would these drilled brakes be, not a BBK, but a smaller and cheaper drilled brake set be, basically the best price I can find... I have seen a few links for ones on ebay, and they are about 100 per rotor, is that all I need? Thanks

go with oem cause the hardness of the rotor matches the hardness of the pads.

if you want to go with the performance brakes, check out EBC drilled/slotted rotors and their GREEN STUFF brake pads. you can find them at www.tirerack.com they are pretty cheap at tirerack, maybe even cheaper than OEM.

Stay away from EBC. do a search and you'll see people have had bad performance and rotor warping with ebc. I have axxiss deluxe pads on oem rotors. stay away from that combo too.

i have ebc rotors and pads, but i havent experienced any problems with them , except for a little faster pad wear than with OEM rotors.

Does my price of $350 for oem on front brakes look good?

if that includes labor, yes. if its parts only, you are getting screwed.
