well i think he just removed the plastic gray insert in the lights, around the lens. That's also what i did and it looks clear.

Is the plastic there for a reason though? Because if the plastic is not needed, then I am going to take it off.

i dont know what the purpose is but i took it off b/c on side was faded and turned yellow, and i couldn't just get that piece, so i just chucked both of them. The look is really nice.

NSX, also when you are taking out the plastic I would recommend giving the inside and outside of the actual glass headlight a good scrubbing, adds to the clear effect.;)

DID THE PLASTIC COME OFF WITH NO PROB. HOW DID YOU DO IT? AND DOES IT LOOK GOOD WITH CLEAR CORNERS. ONE MORE QUESITON, DOES THE FRONT LOOK GOOFY WITH THE PLASTIC OFF. ARE THE HEADLAMPS AND CORNER SIGNAL LEVEL.

Here are some pictures of my car with the gray surround removed, the only i removed was b/c i was goin to get new ones but they dont offer replacement part so i just kept them off and it looked better too. It was an accidental mod that turned out good.

from the front of the car
http://www.jcomotorsports.com/mycar/IMG_0321_sm.jpg

from the top of the car - you can see the black part of the my car since there is no gray surround

A better view from the top

To remove the gray part is easy, just remove the lense and remove the gray thing. I forget whether or not you have to remove the headlight to remove the lense. Search the forum for that, I am sure there is some info on that.

Oh NSXNOS2001 please turn off the cap lock its like you're shouting at us.

Thanks, hoped i've been of help

no nned to remove headlight

I got my lens changed this morning

just remove the corner, then unscrew under the rubber on the side to move the lower body trim under the light

then you can unclip the lens

i just did mine today.. damm those clips are hard to get out, but it looks a lot better, well worth the time spent. Now i need new clear turn signals, mine are the frosted clear kind, and they dont match the headlight as much anymore, crystal clear will look a lot better i think.

the grey plastic inserts you guys are talking about, is that inside the housing or outside?

FreeStyler

Inside behind the glass.

Anyone know what the plastic thing is actually for? Surely it's not there by accident! :)

i dont think ALL the w202's are the same
um on my stock 96 lights the grey parts part of the housing attached to the lens. and on the new eurospecs i bought. it's the same thing... the only way to make it dark is to paint it. so be aware and make sure you have the right model number as 714guy before you go ripping lining out... otherwise a couple bills down the drain for new lamps haha

So its the clear plastic inside that you remove?

Surely that effects the focus of the beam?

We could do with some beam pictures BEFORE / AFTER :)

So its basically the grey surround you remove?

Heres a question.

I changed a lens last week. And that foam rubber seal ripped in 2 places as it was stuck to the old broken lens. I got it all back in as best as I could. Can you buy those lens seals?

Part # ?

i did this mod yesterday, total time= 15min satisfaction rating.... 10. =) so easy and makes it look much nicer. i have smoked corners and it flows perfectly! i know its not going back in so i might just try painting it white to match the whip. will it look good or like shit? *shrug i dunno.... cant hurt to try tho =) ill post up after i try it.

I just did the headlight mod that day where it was like 60 degrees out in chicago...the gray pieces were yellowing so I removed and sanded then to a mat finish. Looks much nicer...

I broke one of the headlight seals in the process too...

Two Questions:

1. Where can I get another headlight seal?
2. What can I use to make the seal stick to the glass lens?

This is how your headlights should look like... :silly:
