keep us posted! sounds like a monster in the making! :)
how much snow are they expecting in NYC? I'm down in the DC
area and the hot weathergirl said 3 to 6 inches on Sat/Sun...
this area got 1.5 inch yesterday and the whole town went bananas. I saw a 14-car pile up...

OK it's 5:25 am Sat morning and I just got in from watching the motor being installed and complete..Start time was 8:30 pm Fri Eastern time.Damn, am I tired and I have to be at wrk at 8am this morning.I took tons of pics and someone will have to give me instructions on how to post them.
We ran in to a problem where the motor was missing severely.:( It took us a while to realize that someone had messed with the cam timing.Without knowing this we were changing ,wires, plugs, and my friend who is a mechanic from MB had his 15,000 dollar diag tool there to help sort things out.The cam gear was one tooth off and was causing cylinder # 3&4 to misfire.
Let me tell you,my heart was in my stomach just thinking about all the money I spent and the fear that the motor was a dud.Under some quick observation my buddy (The mbMech) noticed a new valve cover gasket was replaced, took off the cover and saw that the #1 rocker arm was also replaced. He had some special MB cam tools with him and advanced the cam gear to where it should be.Put it all back together and she fired right up purring like a cat.DAMN! I was so freakin relieved.
Well thats it for now because I'm tired as hell. Will get back to everyone later.;)

one word ... E N V Y
:silly:
So your friend with the Star Diagnosis Computer [I'm assuming] he borrowed from the MB shop he works in ... where does he work? The NYC factory store, or dealership like Paramus, Englewood, Rockville Center, Huntington...??? I've met a lot of techs who get to borrow the computer for freelance work, but none who'd take on such a task as the 5.5L engine swap. Wondering where he lives [NYC, 4 other boroughs, NJ or LI?]. Please do tell.

Understood -- and he may not be local anyway. I had used a great independant MB guy in the past who uses a good freind of his that comes by with the MB Star Diagnosis Computer when he needs it... but he's about 40 miles away from me. Getting the car to him and leaving it is just too much of a hassle so I haven't been using him anymore. If your freind is in North Western Suffolk or North Eastern Nassau on LI and wouldn't mind another easy-going customer, please private message me with his contact info.
