i would like to install a simple and plain remote starter on my C230. The car has the original "infra red" key with the panic, open/close dorrs, and trunck.
The car also came with an anti theft security numbered key pad that so that teh car doesn't start. So my question remain: If I have asimple starter, can I remove the "key pad" security , and then install my remote starter and still use the original key?

Thank You

if you have a smart key you CANNOT do a remote starter. :( if yo hace the switchblade key, then you CAN do a remote starter;)

I have also heard that what Audiophile said was true. It is nearly impossible (anything is possible with enough money though) to install remote start on the smartkey cars.
My 1994 has a regular blade key and I installed the top of the line Clifford RSX3.5 LCD page alarm with remote start. Works like a champ.

yes, but for some reason I stoped working couple of weeks ago and now the "#" stays green.
As for the remote starter, i guess i'll just have to start the car manualy and wait in the freezing cold
thanks guys.

It can be done they just have to trick the car into thinking the key is in it. There is a lot more technical stuff to it and its a lot of work. Many installers say its not possible just cuz they dont want to get into it. If you have an American TV in your area they should be able to do it as well as Circuit City.

I was looking into getting a car alarm as well. Do you know if the viper line would be a good choice. Or would you reccommend the Clifford alarm you have?

When I was researching the alarms, essentially, the Clifford and the Viper LCD Page alarms are essentially the same thing except the Viper's remote is Blue whereas the Clifford has a carbon fiber remote. I think the Viper has a Blue LED where the Clifford has their well-known red light. The rest of the components are the same (they are both made by Directed Electronics). They are both awesome alarms though. Lots of features. I have hooked up the Remote Start, I can also raise and lower my windows/sunroof, and I still have one auxiliary output left over.

I just checked out their websites again and they have one-upped the alarm I have with another that simply has more auxiliary ouputs.

If you have any questions, let me know

you CAN, they just have to chop the key, leave the laser eye in the car, remake a key fob, lot of money, lot of work... not worth it...

In addition to the remote start on a 94 c280, is it possible to get a keyless entry as well?
