Tow Button Light

I got a call from my friend back home and her SLK's tow hook light wont turn off. I have no real knowledge with it, so I was wondering if anyone here knows why its on, and/or how to turn it off.

This is a very common problem on SLK's. The trunk seal starts to leak and rain water drains right into the PSE locking pump, corroding the electrical connectors and causing all kinds of lock/alarm problems. There is a Dealer Technical Bulletin from MB about it where you lengthen the elec harness and vacuum lines, replace the foam container the pump sits in and turn the pump upside down. If it's gotten to the point where the alarm tow switch is stuck on, the pump is probably badly corroded and will need to be replaced also. I would recommend going to a dealer, even if the car is out of warranty, and ask for assistance from the factory as this is a known problem. If you need the DTB# I can look it up tomorrow. Good luck.
