color of power wire to gauge climate control

I need to know which wire(s) are the power to the gauge and climate control lights. I have a 1999 C230K. So if someone could let me know which wire (color) on the connector that plugs into the gauge cluster and the color wire that plugs into the climate control which give power to the lights. I have the dual-analog climate.

The illumination circuit is known as circuit 58d and is typically a grey wire with blue stripe. I just looked this up in our diagram and this is the case in your car. It is pin #5 in the cluster and I couldn't find it in the a/c pushbutton assembly. I couldn't even find a grey/blue wire in the diagram, so without looking at your car I couldn't tell you for sure, MB diagrams are notoriously poor. You could grab this circuit off of any of the other switches such as the lower window switch assy, radio, etc... There is also a large 'z' connector for circuit 58d that sits underneath the console and to the left behind the shifter. Hope this helps, good luck.

I am doing an LED conversion and need to know where to solder it. The electrical diagram you have is that from a manual or one of those Ebay CD-Rom. I will go MB service to see if they may know. Thanx for the help, good thing you let me know bout grey/blue wire cuz i thought it would be the red wire.

I looked on netstar, our MB dealer computer network for the diagram, so it's the same thing your dealer will look at.

how did u convert to stick
but isnt the gearbox kinda crappy with the 5 speed. I think there new 6 speed gearbox is a little better.
