View Full Version : Auto Climate Control woes...

Whenever I switch on the AC..heater or the fan I hear some flap close or open after sometime with a thud...The thud is very loud and can be heard very distinctively...Is this normal...??
Would appreciate any feedback...

mine does that too. I think its the vent opening up.

Same here... I hear a constant thumping noise when I turn on the heater while the engine is off (Keys out of ignition)

yes mine too it just started when it got really cold out

I hear that this is not normal and has something to do with a vacumm element...
Any suggestions...??

does it pulse? if so, it could just be the duovalve, which is normanl.

kinda like when you turn on an old computer but only louder and deeper w/o the beeps

usually the operation for the flaps is pretty quiet.. maybe you guys have some sticking flaps or something? weak vacuum actuators?

Mine is more like a thud...
Like a heavy door being closed...
How can I chk the flaps...???
Any suggestions...??

where does it sound like the thud is coming from?? centre of dash? sides of dash?.. lower down?

well either if u have an MB HHT.. or removing the dash to actually see them operating.

Mine sounds like its from behind the dash toward the lower center. I only hear it when the heater is on with the engine off.

Mine sounds like coming from the lower side of the dash..

i have a flapping and clicking noise when the climate control is OFF after being turned on first. its coming from the blower motor and regulator, located behind the plastic covers to the cabin air filter above the front passenger side foot area.
