I was looking at the tirerack and they list an AMG 170 five spoke rim in lightweight format (22.5 lbs for the 17x7.5 and 23.8 lbs for the 17x8.5). Anyone know what the "regular" rim weighs? And is there a way to tell the difference short of dismounting the tire and getting out the bathroom scale?

That's "light" for AMG ... "Regular" AMG Monoblocks are 3-4lbs heavier in the same dimensions. When I think light, I think rims like OZ Supperleggera and many others that are sub- 20lbs for those dimensions or even bigger.

Search for +wheel +weight in Google ... Example results:

Tire Rack will give you the weight of the Rims, but you have to be shopping for rims by make, year & model of the car, looking at the rims on the car using their visualization tool. Then click a rim to put it on the car ... THEN click the rim picture =on= the car [or click the "view close-up" graphic, and you'll be taken to a page detailing the rim's specs @ that size.
