View Full Version : installed some 6x9s the other day *pix*

well.. I had these 3 way Pioneer 6x9s in 3 other cars iv owned.. so I decided to mod the rear rack of my my c230 to fit some 6x9s.. here is the outcome. with about 1-2 hours of work.. including several breaks :D

and yes.. I am still able to put the OEM speaker cover over this setup to keep it stock looking.

nice...what did you use to cut with??? because i plan on cutting that square part behind the rear armrest...but yah no goggles...will it spark etc? let me know haha

Wow, my rear deck has two round speaker holes under the cover. Aside from the regular speakers, one was empty, the other had a speaker that I was told was part of the integrated cell phone system I didn't even have.

Superpnoy, I cut out the area behind the armrest awhile back, wansn't too hard. I just used a sawzall, but a reciprocating saw or even a cutting wheel will work (way more sparks though.) Expect a LOT of vibration and noise as you cut, shouldn't be too many sparks witha sawzall of recip. saw though. Eye protection is always a must however.

how did u take out the oem speaker grille??? i want to remove my rear deck speakers to get some rid of some of my trunk rattle... do you guys think this will work? i am also thinking about cutting a hole through my first aid kit and adding some kind of mesh grille there for more air to get through.. i also need to cut the thing behind my rear armrest! stupid mercedes!!! why couldnt they do it on my model!?!?

don't worry.. i've gave that up already...

but yeah.. i have this component where you can modify you non-folding seats into folding seats..

anyone interested.. i can get it :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

the best and safest way to expand the hole would be with a nibbler.
