Here's what i have,
after only 5k miles after putting brand new OEM rotors, and Porterfield R4S pads in, i have vibration in steering wheel at high speeds when breaking hard. It's been diagnosed as grooved/warped rotors. When i look at them they seem like only some minor thats in my opinion grooving.
Question is, should I resurface the rotors? Should I get Brembo rotors same size etc. I heard aftermarket rotors are different steel than the possibly too soft material OEM rotors. Now even if I do get new rotors, or resurface them, will I need new pads? Mind you there's only 5% used in these pads, they are practicly new, but of course, will they cause new grooving and same problem on the new rotors? Btw what I think happened is I overtightened the wheels and got the rotors messed up that way, didn't have a torque wrench available (going to get one as we speak just to double check everything)
any suggestions on the most efficient/cost effective way to fix this?
thanks in advance

try to resurface the rotors first.....if that don't work....shop around for new rotors.

i wouldn't need new pads also?
just afraid that the current will groove the pattern into the new rotors, but i guess some type of grooving will be done no matter what

from what I have read and what everyone seems to tell me you WILL need new pads to go with your rotors. I'ts ok to have your rotors shape the pads but you dont want your pads shaping your rotors, especially new rotors... hope this helps..

I just bout some cross-drilled brembos on ebay. They are sitting here under my desk. A little over $200.00 U.S. for all four of them including shipping. Let me know if you want to check them out. I'll have the guy get in touch with you.

hey eurosport,
I just bought some replacement brembo rotors from a race brakes specialist....my first question was do i need to replace my pads!!,he said no,it will take like 20k's and the pads will be smooth as....
but i have MB pads,so there pretty soft,im not so sure about the harder dust free types...

Paul

ok looks like it was rotors after all
put in new rotors, left same pads, and vibration gone, had to embed the pads you know the break in usual 60-5mph about 8 times, then let em cool off b4 you stop the car.
all good so far

FWIW I also had the same problem. When I put in my racing pads, they warped my OEM rotors. I know a lot of people use an OEM rotor/racing pad setup without the same issues, so I guess it's luck of the draw?

i think so too,
it seems like OEM rotor is a little softer steel than the OEM spec Brembo's (just plain rotors replacements). Non stock pads seem to eat through the stocks
my advise is the same, use OEM rotor/OEM pad, or aftermarket OEM spec rotors/aftermarket pads

i ran brembo rotors w/stock pads for a little while, it squeeked like mad when it got hot, and brake feel was kinda crappy, so i would suggest going w/aftermarket pads, i got some from brake pros, cant remember exactly which ones but, it fixed the problem
